Your points are spot on! I think hay can be made more easily with Ben Nelson than Joe Lieberman, for sure. I'd make the play to Joe if for no other reason than the shock value to the Rat party. Think about it - their former VP candidate switching parties or at least caucusing with the GOP. IMO, the Rats need to be destroyed, by any and every means necessary.
I will disagree with you on the “big tent” theory. I don't believe you can elect the same candidate in Wyoming or South Carolina that you can in Connecticut or New Jersey. Most likely the candidate will be more conservative in WY or SC. I have posted that as a whole, let some of the Congresspeople vote against the party if they need to - but on non-essential items like “National Ice Cream” or “5th Undersecretary of the US Forestry Service”. When it comes to the real stuff, like national defense, immigration, taxes, etc. they best damn understand THEY WILL TOW THE PARTY LINE OR ELSE.
I will give Obama credit for his Mafia-style way of dealing with his party. Party discipline is something the Rats have over the GOP, especially with the RINO’s running amok.
Again, I'm not proposing more RINO’s, I'm proposing party discipline. With that, the GOP will be successful.
I agree we can’t elect the same candidate in ME that we elect in WY, but they can have enough core conservative principles to have a meeting of the minds when it really counts.
Before I would agree with you that the party leadership should lay down the law and effect some discipline, I’d like for them to first prove themselves by running some vertebrates as candidates for a change. Until they do that consistently, the less power they have, the better off we are.
Trust the leadership? NY23 still chafes. Scuzzy was the LEADERSHIP’s candidate, passing over Hoffman. The rat who won by blatantly lying to the dumbass electorate was one of the two votes that put Pelosi’s deathcare over the top. The “leadership” increased Pelosi’s chances of getting that vote from 1:1 to 2:0 by running Scuzzy instead of Hoffman. Even Hoffman throwing his hat in as thrid-party only lowered Pelosi’s chance to 2:1. We saw what happened.

The lack of leadership IS THE PROBLEM. I’ve posted in the past that the GOP leaders in the Senate should be: DeMint, Sessions, Coburn, Inhofe - they have spines of steel.
In the House: Pense, Ryan and McCotter.

The Senate leadership needs to go. The quartet I listed would be an awesome leadership team.
It is being reported that the meeting called by Obama a couple days ago that he threatened to close a major military base in Nebraska if Nelson did not go with the flow. The gov. being aware of the threat finds the obama health care to be a
far worse threat so he has openly told Nelson to go against the bill. Apparently Nelson is doing just that and has nothing to fear now. Susan Collins, Olympia Snow may be easier nuts for bo to crack. Hope not but the thought is scary !
McCotter looks like a solid guy and would be a lot of fun at a party.:) His last electoral take was a little tenuous (51%), but his stand on Paulson’s bailout was provident so he should easily sail through next November, especially given the declining popularity of rats. I have to say, though, I’m surprised he got elected in this day and age. He’s only slightly more attractive than Alan Colmes, who is one of the ugliest people I’ve ever seen on TV, if not the ugliest. Ah well, it doesn’t seem to slow either of them down, so I guess it’s no big deal. :) And maybe that photo on the Wiki profile doesn’t do him justice. All in all, he seems like a cool dude. BTW, if you know, did he cave to the local fascists’ pressure on Iraq? The article doesn’t say, unless I missed it.
I agree with you about the Senate “quartet”, and there may be a couple more worthy of high (not top) leadership. I sense the most strength from DeMint, but Coburn would be a good leader for these times. OTOH, Inhofe may well be the toughest, but he’s got the personality of a dead carp. I think he’d be more useful quietly busting chops behind the scenes. Coburn is the least likely to seem like a good ol’ boy, while Sessions is the most likely to come off that way. Notice they’re all southerners? It sure would be nice if we could find a few somebodies in other parts of the country with a spine, smarts and the tongue of a pit viper. Hey! I know! How about running Sarah Palin for the Senate?

We will pick up some Senate seats in Nov and have the necessary votes then to block Obama's agenda.
Ben Nelson has yet to prove himself on the final vote, either to approve this piece of excrement legislation or to filibuster. Dems are known to cave at the last minute, and wouldn't be surprised a bit if this happens.
This is only one of many abominations to be stopped, and if we succeed, we will be dead if we rest on our laurels thinking we have stopped socialism - I don't even think we'll have luxury of time to celebrate. The vicious, incessant attack on family institutions continues, the most radical abortion activists now have a listening ear in the executive and legislative branches, gun-grabbers are crafting their language for their next legislative assault, and the border is about to be cracked wide open. We are truly at war.
Let’s see what happens. The people are pissed off. South Dakota tossed out “Tiny Tom” and Nevada looks poised to dump “Dingy Harry”, voters do take action.
Nelson might have to flip to stay employed. Nebraska is a glowing red state.

RE: The Senate. “Personality of a dead carp”, that fits Harry Reid to a “T” as well. I'd LOVE Coburn as majority leader - well spoken, and being a doctor, no one can say he's dumb. And I guess the make ‘em better down South! I liked Kyl (AZ), but he's pro-illegal.
Sarah in the Senate? In theory, sweet. But in terms of her running for president - no. I'd love to see Michelle Bachmann in the Senate - she's got a spine and a set of balls (metaphorically, that is)! And she's hot too! :) No confusing her with Alan Colmes.

Of course this is just early speculation, but I don’t think Sarah can be elected in ‘12 against the zero machine. I don’t think she can win. I HOPE I’m wrong.

I think Kyl is persuadable on illegals, especially now that Bush is gone, Teddy is deady, and McPain is losing steam. Otherwise, he’s solid and a pretty good senator. He also has an appealing personality that reaches people. That’s important even though it shouldn’t be.
Michelle, Sarah and what’s her name from TN - Blackburn? Yeah, Marsha Blackburn (I think). Put ‘em all in the Senate. Serious ass will be kicked. And yes, all lovely ladies.
Gotta correct you on one thing, though. The rats would indeed say Coburn is dumb if he was majority leader, even though he’s a doc. The rats would even say Einstein was dumb if he was a pub leader.
I stand my ground on my Colmes-McCotter observation. :)
