Thank God that insurance should cover most/all of this, right?

If you can get to Ramos, tell him that if his insurance won’t cover it, the hotels will(regardless of what the hotel says)

Ha!
Have you ever talked to your auto insurance company regarding items stolen from your car? The 1st thing out of their mouth is, 'Your Deductible', then its 'Receipts'.

And even if your deductible is low, like $200, the 'stuff' stolen was $1,000, and you have all your receipts, you've just made a claim and your rates will go up. Annnnd that claim stays on your 'permanent record' for at least five years, in some states 10 yrs iiirc, so switching companies doesn't help.

Either way --- you lose.

(You may as well have 'Vinny' torch the car and be done with it.)

I didn’t see your response until after I’d posted my last post. No, I have not, but they do likely have receipts, since they’re Christmas presents. Maybe anyway.

He’ll likely get plenty of support from his friends and fans though, surely. It’s just very stressful.

That I think is true, the people will help them.

I didn't see your other post, which is okay.
My basic point was that auto insurance companies are basically useless except when you're in a 'crash'.

We have GEICO which we're happy with and saved us a lot of money when we went to them. BUT, I found here on FR that if you use their 'Auto Club Service' for a Jump Start, Gas, a Tow, or Tire Change, they consider that a Claim Against Your Policy. After reading that I called GEICO the next day and had that option deleted from our policy.

We're in the AAA Auto Club anyway. Its far superior with all its discounts and Bond Card for traffic tickets. So the GEICO thing was an unneeded service and unnecessary extra expense.

WHAT?????? I have GEICO too and I didn’t know that. Oh dear.
How much is AAA?
I feel like the White Rabbit right now. (going to and fro saying “oh dear, oh dear”)

Some people are alive only because it’s illegal to shoot them. Those who steal other’s Christmas gifts are real classy.

Those things happen all the time at motels/hotels. Especially to musicians when they park that small trailer with all the music equipment. Thief’s know what’s in there. Some follow you as you go around (and after) your buying binge. The agent should have taken all their goodies inside the room with them. Last night we saw a woman leaving a restaurant with all her Christmas bags in her arms. She had taken them inside while she dined . She didn’t take any chances. That’s a smart move.

I think the AAA rates vary regionally. Ours is $120/year for 3 drivers, has 100 mile towing. Found out last year that towing does not include pulling a car out of the median due to sliding out in snow. But we have always been happy with the AAA service, and can also get some discounts on things.

GEICO doesn’t cover being stuck in mud unless you are within a few feet of the road. It doesn’t snow here.
I am still in shock that I’ve been making claims against my policy.

We too have AAA in addition to our regular insurance which has tow coverage. The reason is that AAA is quick, and the guys that show up have always been clean and professional.

Thanks all for the tip that calling for a tow under our normal policy could count as a claim.

“stopped to sleep at a a quinta”

Okay...I’m dumb....in this case what is a ‘Quinta’?

These people can’t seem to catch a break. I’m pleased that Pres. Bush did at least commute their sentence before he left.
