MTP, Gregory questions why Abdul’s father’s warning wasn’t enough to warrant stronger action by the US. Brennan’s response is we get lots of these kinds of tips. We just need to make sure it never happens again. Good idea!

Brennan says Janet Napolitano has done a great job this last year???!!!!

Gregory keeps pushing the point of all the red flags and WHY didn’t “the system” work. Brennan’s response is we’ve connected lots of other dots to disrupt plans, just not this time.

Oh, for heaven’s sake - he’s pushing the line “The system is working”,......(just not so well this time).

Obama’s signing that executive order allowing Interpol powers to override the protections of our own Constitution exceeds his presidential powers and is UNConstitutional imo. Will the Supreme Court act on this and nullify it? It MUST.

The kitties rock!
So does our threat assessment at FR.
Cindy and the gang are an incredible group and some of the stuff they dig up is incomparable.

Like a Chicago immigration agency as a front for terror and all the links there in.
If only 10% of what FR threat assessment gals dig up were used as tv commercials we would win every race there is in many areas. It’s here

“Bush admin arrested the shoebomber Reid as a ‘civilian’”

The idea of setting up a separate Consular Corps outside of the State Department has been discussed for many years. When DHS was set up, there was an attempt to move consular operatons there.

IMO, it would make no difference where it was moved since it is part of the government bureaucracy. Moreover, it would be a radical departure to move it elsewhere. No other country that I am aware of does it outside of their foreign ministry. And what other consular functions would go with it? Issuance of passports? Protection of amcits overseas? Notary functions?

Consular functions are closely intertwined with bilateral relations overseas. Every agency at an embassy or consulate serves under the Ambassador (with one exception, military commanders of an operational mission). Moving this function to the military is a bad idea for so many reasons, starting with the optics of a democracy delegating to the military the responsibility for who gets a visa or not. For now, civilians still run this country. What's next, a military coup?

I’m afraid Americans WILL accept full body scanners and any other idiotic thing the feds dream up to avoid profiling.

More and more comes out about the flagrant warnings ignored. And they cite a watch list of about 500,000, implying that this is an impossible number to deal with.

Well, hire Bank of America. If I didn’t pay my bill, every 7-11 store in the world would know it and refuse my card.

This is just unacceptable. Why ignore this, Media?

Brennan tells us that Incompetento has just the right skills for her job. That would be true if one of the skills is going on Sunday talk shows and sounding stupid.

Then he says that we very much need Strothers at TSA because of all of his skills which include, as we have seen, lying under oath and “correcting the record” only when it’s clear he is going to be caught.

Nice chart. I don’t believe that unemployment has been flat for the past six months. That view has been manipulated to keep the number stable, and by dropping off some long-term unemployed while extending others, - probably by federal funds flowing in ‘preferred’ states.

The Obama supporters do not have a single leg to stand on, except maybe the one with a tingle running up it.

He has not made one appointment of a competent person with no tax evasion/fraud, no history of questionable or criminal activity or some kind of anti-American behavior.

Not one. (that I can think of)

He has not supported one idea that is good for the country.

Why does he still have support. I’ll bet half my friends on facebook still think he’s better than GWB.

I agree, altura. The people "in charge" showed how the system is NOT working. This was a breakdown in quite a few sectors. Instead of admitting it, fixing the flaws, they will push more idiotic rules that merely punish air travellors, and do nothing to find terrorists before they get on the plane.

Happy New Year to you kabar.

This administration is famous for hiding what is really going on under the realm of constant chaos.

Recently it's been the panty bomber and now chaos in Iran and Yemen.

IMHO,this lends me to wonder what is going on with cap and tax and more recently amnesty goals which are now quietly being batted around in Congress.

Any guess as to how far either issue will get?

Okay, so Chertoff is out touting his full body scanners. Which, heh, he is selling.

Thus he must be nice to the current admin for want of the contract, and nice to the prior admin because, duh, he was part of it.

And I love that softball question by Gregory...I paraphrase...

...”Do you think that the fact that the only way Al-Queda can wage an attack is by finding these losers? Isn’t that fact alone an indicator of how sucessful we’ve been avoiding attack?”

Well damn, the WH itself must have phoned that one in.

As for Janet Incompetano....they are out in full force in her defense. I can see the scene now.

“Mr. President if you don’t get folks out defending me over that “system worked” sound byte, so help me God, I’m going to hold a press conference and inform the public that it was Rahm, approved by you, who gave me this sound byte. What’ve I got to lose? I’ll probably get fired anyway. Save my reputation, and let me resign to be with my family.”

They all listen to National Public Radio. It reinforces their sense of ‘cool.’

I do not think any form of arts should be supported by the government. If your work does not support you, then do it because you want to, but don’t expect the gov’t to pay.

NPR uses those soft, confidential voices (like they were calling a golf tournament) and we know that we are better than all the rest.

Believe me, since I am a writer (and the govt’ refuses to pay me a cent) I know a lot of these types.

Seriously, Alas, look at sportswriters. 99% of them never played sports in high school; they were at best sports reporters for their high school paper.

Now they spend all of their time harassing the NFL players and mocking them when they can. And if they are really good at it, like Keith Olbermann, they get allowed into the super-cool political clique!

I see your point, and it’s a good one. I just was steamed at the incompetence, and as someone earlier up thread pointed out, the military has its own issues of PC foolishness and incompetence.

I just cannot get over that this guy was turned in and still didn’t get red flagged. If they missed this type of person, how many more subtle signs are they missing?

My husband is working for a mining company in Africa right now, so I am a little touchy on this subject.
