I met Ollie North in person in the Baltimore Airport about 5-6 years ago. He was flying commercial. A lot of people came up to him and shook his hand. I did too and had the chance to chat with him a little. He could not have been a nicer, more accessible guy. A real class act.

When someone makes a mistake on a national security issue, I will criticize them, no matter what their party affiliation.

Therefore, Bush screwed-up with his decision to put the Shoe Bomber before a civilian court and Obama is screwing-up by his decision to put the Underwear Bomber on trial in a civilian court.

"Terrorist states are seeking nuclear weapons without delay ... he wants to meet them without preconditions." "Al-Qaida terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America ... he's worried that someone won't read them their rights?"

As a student of Ancient Hebrew (Biblical) poetic forms, I feel these kind of cadences in Sarah's speeches. Hebrew poetry often will follow one statement with a somewhat contrasting statement for effect. Rhyme is not necessary. This is especially evident in the Book of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes.

An example would be "The righteous are bold as a lion...But the wicked flee when no one is pursuing them."

I am not calling Sarah a Biblical Prophet. I am just noticing this quality in her speeches.

Third correc tion of my mistaken post. Of course it was Abu Nidal; for some reason I get these names mixed up.

She IS being brought up on thought crimes, and pronounced guilty by the people who matter. Her punishment is to have her video on the telescreen during the one minute of hate, and have the people who matter throw stuff at her image. Just imagine, Barbara Walters throwing the latest edition of the Newspeak dictionary at the wall projection and shouting “you fiend!” at her. Gee. How can she even dare show her face in public after such humiliation.

Yep. Simply and aptly put. The Guv communicates like the average person. I cringe when I hear the pols spout billions of words that have no meaning and are bereft of morality.

Palin is using the internet masterfully to get her message out. I understand her book continues to fly off the shelves—though that is being ignored by the media.

So, now could you please provide us with other, more substantiated, reasons why it was right for Bush to prosecute the Shoe Bomber in a civilian court and it is wrong to prosecute the Underwear Bomber in a civilian court?

I believe the salient point of difference is that Richard Reid was an American citizen arrested on American soil, and so was tried accordingly. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is a Nigerian, and therefore should not be afforded the Constitutional right to trial to which Reid was entitled.

I believe the salient point of difference is that Richard Reid was an American citizen arrested on American soil, and so was tried accordingly.

From what I have read, it would appear that Richard Reid is not a U.S. citizen however, he was arrested on American soil.

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is a Nigerian, and therefore should not be afforded the Constitutional right to trial to which Reid was entitled.

You are correct in that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is a Nigerian and that he too was arrested on American soil.

Richard Reid is not a U.S. citizen

I stand corrected. Unfortunately, I mistook Richard Reid for John Walker Lindh, aka "The American Taliban," who was also tried in a standard criminal court.

In that case, I concur, the Bush Administration erred when they tried Reid in a criminal court.

Thanks for straightening me out. Perhaps they gave him special treatment because he was a Brit...
