EXCERPT...
LIZ CHENEY: But, you know, can I just point out that I think one of the things that makes the American people frustrated is when they see time and time again liberals excusing racism from other liberals. And I think that, you know, clearly, Senator Reid's comments were outrageous. And the notion that they're being excused...(CROSSTALK)
STEPHANOPOULOS: But in a private conversation that he thought was off the record...
CHENEY: I don't think racism is OK, George, whether you're saying it in private or in public. And the excuse of it by liberals, you know, is -- is really inexcusable.
But I do think, frankly, you know, he's given the voters of Nevada yet one more reason to oust him this -- this next time around, and I suspect that's what they'll do.
STEPHANOPOULOS: George, you're shaking your head.
GEORGE WILL: I don't think there's a scintilla of racism in what Harry Reid said. At long last, Harry Reid has said something that no one can disagree with, and he gets in trouble for it.
CHENEY: George, give me a break. I mean, talking about the color of the president's skin...
WILL: Did he get it wrong?
CHENEY: ... and the candidate's...
WILL: Did he say anything false?
CHENEY: ... it's -- these are clearly racist comments, George.
WILL: Oh, my, no.
(CROSSTALK)
HUNT: ... quickly, Liz, I -- I think it was certainly an indelicate comment, but, in fact, during the election, there were stories and there were people commenting on Tiger Woods, Adrian Fenty. I mean, I think it's very unfortunate, but I think there is an element that says that -- that -- that some -- some blacks do better than others because of appearance. I don't think that's right...
(CROSSTALK)
HUNT: ... but I don't think...
(CROSSTALK)
CHENEY: ... this may be the way that liberal elites speak to each other in private. It is not the way that people that I know speak to each other in private or public...
(CROSSTALK)
HUNT: ... no one's ever accused Harry Reid of being a liberal elite.
(CROSSTALK)
CHENEY: ... all of us hope that this nation will be one, where we're judged by the content of our character, and that is not what that comment...
George Will enjoys talking over people’s heads.
Now he enjoys being irrelevant.
So long, George. I used to know you.
IMHO, it’s even WORSE that it was said in private. Shows his real feelings.

I hope Conservatives grow a pair and continue to talk about racism amongst Democrats, in general, for the next 10 months. Would the Dem’s do that? Oh yeah!
They most certainly were racist remarks. Here is Liz’s most shining moment in this transcript:
“This may be the way that liberal elites speak to each other in private. It is not the way that people that I know speak to each other in private or public.”
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/08/politics/08judges.html
“Does she want a theocracy?” Mr. Schumer said. “What does Janice Brown want to be nominated for? Dictator? Or grand exalted ruler?”
Rising to respond, Senator Jeff Sessions, Republican of Alabama, noted that Justice Brown is an African-American daughter of a sharecropper from his home state.
“What in her record indicates she wants to be a dictator?” Mr. Sessions said. “Did she want to be some grand exalted ruler? Was that some reference to the Ku Klux Klan?”
“To have it suggested that somehow her ideas are consistent with the Ku Klux Klan,” he said, “is really offensive to me.”
WHACK!
Leave it to you, maggief, to find GOLD.
Schumer’s comments are very racist and Sessions spotted it, right away!
How did you EVER think of that?
You know...I was thinking the same thing and then I went upstairs to cook my dinner and read an op-ed in The Capital(my local paper) by George Will. He tore apart the liberalism in California.
So Mr. Will redeemed himself today...
In Harry's mind it was a degrading comment for all those people whose skin is dark and all those that don't talk as white.
So it is not Obama’s place to except an apology. It is the millions who fit the description that Harry says Obama is not!
He writes many good, conservative articles.
I just don’t understand why, when we are handed a golden POLITICAL issue, conservatives think it is somehow noble to let it pass.
This is politics.
And to let a golden issue pass is like refusing to PROFILE at the airports.
Our opponents laugh in our faces and take advantage of it and the country is WORSE off because of it.
Just rummaging around ...
;)
I remember the first show he was on; “ This Week with David Brinkley.
Will wanted that big paycheck more than he wanted conservatism. Nothing has changed.
Byron York got his removed too. It was a three-fer.
Liz is the daughter, Lynn is the wife.
CHENEY: ... this may be the way that liberal elites speak to each other in private. It is not the way that people that I know speak to each other in private or public...
Reid’s remarks were entirely true. Obama was indeed chosen in part because he was light skinned and it is true that he opportunistically spoke in dialect. If the word “negro” was the problem, perhaps we should start a campaign to get the National Negro College Fund to change its name. Conservatives are digging their graves when they join the witchhunting PC thought police. Harry Reid should be drummed out of office because of his socialism not because of these remarks.
You're right about one thing. This is purely a POLITICAL issue. Principle has nothing to do with it. Some of us, however, refuse to join the PC thought police even to geain temporary political advantage. We know that it only feeds the power the witchhunters in the long term.
Okay, let's view it in these terms. Let's assume that conservative PC types in this case get their wish and Reid has to resign as majority leader because of these remarks. Then what? I'll tell you. The left will feel even more empowered when it seeks its next conservative scalp who does something similar. At that point, the Conservatives who endorses PC in this case will have no defense.
