Stimulus saved or created up to 2 million jobs in 2009, White House says

Reporting from Washington - The Obama administration, offering evidence that its much-maligned efforts to spur economic recovery have begun to take hold, said Tuesday that the $787-billion stimulus program saved or created 1.5 million to 2 million jobs last year.

These latest figures from the White House Council of Economic Advisors are certain to be challenged by Republicans, but the employment and economic effects of the stimulus cited in the report are generally in line with estimates from some leading private economists as well as the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

"This is truly a stunning effect" of the Recovery Act, Christina Romer, chairwoman of the council, said in a conference call with reporters.

Prove it! The only jobs “created” or saved were in the unproductive, non-revenue producing public sector (i.e., government jobs): NO jobs in the private sector were created. ObaMugabe and his lemming camp followers will spin anything.

BS - just ask my son-in-law who has been looking for work for the last 9 months. No construction jobs, no roofing jobs, and not even McDonald's is hiring.

Hey Obama! My son-in-law needs a job!

I wonder what Recovery Act, Christina Romer, chairwoman of the council had been sniffing before making that asinine remark?

That puts the cost at between $400,000 to $524,000 per job. Another Obama system that is working.

Put this one out there front and center right along side the 10% unemployment (18% real unemployment). We need a good laugh every now and then.

Prove it! The only jobs “created” or saved were in the unproductive, non-revenue producing public sector (i.e., government jobs):

According to BLS figures, unemployment increased in the public sector from 2.3 to 3.6 or a decline of about 275K jobs for the last year. If they are creating jobs, they are losing jobs faster than they are creating them..

I had to recheck my math as I couldn’t believe that that would be a stat that anybody in their right mind would brag about...then I remembered who is bragging..

I'm sorry. I just can't believe this crap.
The only jobs the government has saved or created are government jobs.
I really don't see a lot of Wall Street bankers out there paving roads and building bridges.

“White House changes stimulus job accounting
New method will make it impossible to track ones saved or created.

updated 5:35 p.m. ET, Tues., Jan. 12, 2010

WASHINGTON - The White House has abandoned its controversial method of counting jobs under President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus, making it impossible to track the number of jobs saved or created with the $787 billion in recovery money.

Despite mounting a vigorous defense of its earlier count of more than 640,000 jobs credited to the stimulus, even after numerous errors were identified, the Obama administration now is making it easier to give the stimulus credit for hiring. It’s no longer about counting a job as saved or created; now it’s a matter of counting jobs funded by the stimulus.

That means that any stimulus money used to cover payroll will be included in the jobs credited to the program, including pay raises for existing employees and pay for people who never were in jeopardy of losing their positions.

...”

Stimulus saved or created up to 2 million jobs in 2009, White House says

Oh hell, why not 3 million, or even 10 million when you're just making it up anyway? Why limit yourself to such a small number?

Probably they're going with 2 million because they think it might be more believable, than say, 10 million.

One does wonder though, since they keep making up different "jobs created/saved" numbers from month to month, if it's starting to give the average American sheeple the idea that they might just be lying. And if they're lying about this, what else are they lying about?
