Posted on 01/13/2010 8:08:37 AM PST by Al B.
In her debut as a contributor to Fox News, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin admitted Tuesday that leading up to her 2008 vice presidential debate she thought Iraq may have been behind the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Interviewed by Fox Newss Bill OReilly on his show The OReilly Factor, Palin trashed many of the critical accounts of her candidacy in the new book Game Change. But one story from the book that Palin did not say was made up or a lie was the description of her uncertainty as to whether Iraq had a hand in the planning of the September 11 attacks.
I did talk a lot to [campaign strategist] Steve Schmidt about the history of the war and where the attackers could have come from, Palin said of her debate prep during the fall of 2008 more than five years after the start of the war in Iraq and seven years after the terrorist attacks that hit New York and Washington.
I do admit to asking questions about that, she said.

just sent the part of the transcript off to him and I also told what thought of him
Bush never pinned blame for the attacks directly on the Iraqi president. Still, the overall effect was to reinforce an impression that persists among much of the American public: that the Iraqi dictator did play a direct role in the attacks. A New York Times/CBS poll this week shows that 45 percent of Americans believe Mr. Hussein was "personally involved" in Sept. 11, about the same figure as a month ago.
There were allegations that Iraq had ties with Al Qaida within the GWB admin. Later the info was proven inaccurate, but documents captured by US forces from the Iraqi Intel indicated that Saddam was making overtures to Al Qaida and vice versa. That was an eye openner for the CIA because their experts allege that Saddam is secular and will never work with Islamic fundamentalists like Al Qaida and vice versa way before 9/11. New info indicated that both groups needed each other that time, AQ wanted a backup sanctuary just in case Afghanistan kicks them out and Saddam wanted as much Muslim support for his weakening regime. Alot of this info is still being interpretted from Arabic to English and stored in the US intel archives. GWB never used the info to strengthen his reasons for war in Iraq. Maybe it contained sensitive info that cannot be publicized, who knows, maybe our grandchildren will get to peruse them in the future.
Looking at Andy Barr’s photo, I can tell he has Obama and Levi Johnston photos pasted on his ceiling.
Right now, Andy Barr, Ben Smith, and Jonathan Martin got their Obama thongs in a twist because his approval numbers are under 50%.
Today, the three of them are going to put their diapers and suck their thumbs while they watch Palin on Beck’s show.
Did he ask her about why there is a North and South Korea and what the Federal Reserve does? I am disturbed that she possibly didnt know.
She did not say that. I heard what she said. They really feel threatened by her and want to destroy her.
Saddam was behind the '93 attack on the WTC. Why is it so hard for them to see?
When they have to lie to prove a point, maybe they should review the point they’re trying to make.
Actually, there was good reason to think that Saddam Hussein was involved with 9/11, if not the primary motivating force behind it. His intelligence chief met with one of the leading 9/11 hijackers in Prague not long before the bombing.
George Tenet denied it, repeatedly. But who are you going to believe, Clinton’s lying stooge in the CIA, or the government of Czechoslavakia? George Bush took far too long to get rid of Tenet. As a result the war was undermined, as was Bush’s reputation. Bush just stood there and let them lie about it. As, apparently, Palin was supposed to do.
“There were allegations that Iraq had ties with Al Qaida within the GWB admin”
There were a lot of allegations about a lot of stuff within that admininistration.

Palin admits questions about 9/11

Sarah Palin on Fox says she thought Iraq was behind 9/11
I wonder if an editor “sexed” it up for him to garner hits?
There is also that little matter of Abu Nidal, died of “suicide” before the invasion, and Abu Abbas, captured in Iraq, died in custody, being in Iraq during that time period. Where they involved with the training, seems very plausible.
They were having telethons in Iraq to raise money for families of Palestinian suicide bombers.
Of course Saddam would NEVER lend his name, money grant his blessings on a terrorist attack on the USA, he loved us so much for destroying his dream of being the leader in the Middle east. (/Sarcasm off) Stupid frigging liberal whackos.
Ramzi Yousef (1993 WTC) and Terry Nichols crossed paths (OKC) in the Phillipines. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (9/11) was Yousef's uncle. It is interesting to note that Yousef entered the United States on an Iraqi passport and had been known among the New York fundamentalists as "Rashid, the Iraqi". Another name that could be thrown into the mix is Abdul Rahman Yasin, a U.S. citizen who moved to Iraq in the 1960's and returned to the U.S. in 1992. After the 1993 WTC bombing, Yasin fled to Iraq and was given monthly salary and housing by Saddam Hussein's regime.
"The administration does not want the victims of Sept. 11 interfering with its foreign policy," says Peter M. Leitner, director of the Washington Center for Peace and Justice (WCPJ). Leitner says the Bush administration may be concerned that if other victims of the Sept. 11 attacks also filed lawsuits and won civil-damage awards it would reduce Iraqi resources that the administration wants to use to rebuild the country. Leitner and others say this explains Bush's reticence at this time to report the convincing evidence linking Saddam and al-Qaeda that has been collected by U.S. investigators and private organizations seeking damages. "The [Bush] administration is intentionally changing the topic," claims Leitner, and sidestepping the issue that "Iraq has been in a proxy war against the U.S. for years and has used al-Qaeda in that war against the United States."
In 1998, an Arab intelligence officer, who knows Saddam personally, predicted in Newsweek: "Very soon you will be witnessing large-scale terrorist activity run by the Iraqis." The Arab official said these terror operations would be run under "false flags" --spook-speak for front groups--including bin Laden's organization.
Then there were the predictions by an Iraqi with ties to Iraqi intelligence, Naeem Abd Mulhalhal, in Qusay's own newspaper several weeks before the attacks that stated bin Laden would demolish the Pentagon after he destroys the White House and bin Laden would strike America on the arm that is already hurting. (referencing a second IRAQI sponsored attack on the World Trade Center). Another reference to New York was [bin Laden] will curse the memory of Frank Sinatra everytime he hears his songs. (e.g., New York, New York) which identified New York, New York as a target. Mulhalhal also stated, The wings of a dove and the bullet are all but one and the same in the heart of a believer." which references an airplane attack.
The Arabic language daily newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabic also cited the cooperation between Iraq, bin Laden and Al December 1998 editorial, which predicted that President Saddam Hussein, whose country was subjected to a four day air strike, will look for support in taking revenge on the United States and Britain by cooperating with Saudi oppositionist Osama Bin-Laden, whom the United States considers to be the most wanted person in the world. This info is in the link provided below. How could these people have had foreknowledge without Iraq being involved?
Warning...slow loading .pdf file. This was from a lawsuit filed against Iraq after 9/11...the court ruled against Iraq.
There was also another lawsuit filed by the family of John ONeill (a former FBI agent who captured Ramzi Yousef after the 1993 WTC bombings) after he died in the WTC on 9/11. His personal files from his years of traveling around the world investigating al-Qaeda are were used as evidence in the lawsuit. The evidence includes documents unearthed in the headquarters of the Mukhabarat (Iraq's intelligence service) and information gleaned from the interrogation of both al-Qaeda and Iraqi prisoners. (Link below). It also quotes Vincent Cannistraro, the former CIA counter-terrorism chief, who stated in October 2000 that Iraq had been wanting to carry out terrorist attacks, and that the Iraqi military had been in contact with Osama bin Laden.
We know from these IIS documents that beginning in 1992 the former Iraqi regime regarded bin Laden as an Iraqi Intelligence asset. We know from IIS documents that the former Iraqi regime provided safe haven and financial support to an Iraqi who has admitted to mixing the chemicals for the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center. We know from IIS documents that Saddam Hussein agreed to Osama bin Laden's request to broadcast anti-Saudi propaganda on Iraqi state-run television. We know from IIS documents that a "trusted confidante" of bin Laden stayed for more than two weeks at a posh Baghdad hotel as the guest of the Iraqi Intelligence Service.

And kabar submitted these two little gems showing Bin Laden supported Iraq and its struggle against the US and the West.
Yes, indeed. The liberal media lied about almost everything to do with Saddam.
Yes, he had weapons of mass destruction.
Yes, he had high level connections with the 9/11 hijackers.
Yes, he encouraged suicide bombers.
Yes, he helped send armed Muslim terrorists into Bosnia during the run up to Clinton’s disasterous war against the Serbs.
No need for Sarah to stand there arguing all these points, which Bush should have argued while they were happening, but she was certainly right to speculate that Saddam had terrorist connections. Because he did.
Thanks. Added to my FR links folder.
She did NOT say that. These people are getting blatant with their lies.
Once again, Andy lowers the Barr.
Politico is nothing more then the Daily Kooks except they get more air time. They are PATHETIC, she NEVER said she thought Iraq was behind 9/11..she said that she wondered if there was a possibility they were behind it. Nothing wrong with asking questions. Heck I have questions too. You know what Sarah said last night proved what an honest person she is(I already knew that but last night just saying) she could have lied, said she never said such a thing, its really her word against Schmidt, but she said the truth, why, because she is HONEST and has nothing to hide, which drives the left insane since they are all about lies
So I Guess in your mind she should keep her mouth shut and not say a word for the next 3 years. Only idiots believe what liberal rags tell them, the rest of America is well aware of their lies
THOSE are lies....form anonymous sources, the same ones that said that she bought all of those clothes for herself in the campaign and after that even the NYT admit it was all lies
Schmidt needs a butt-whipping Texas style!
I’d love five minutes with Schmidt, heck you know what, 2 minutes is all I need
Excellent and thank you. I’ve posted a link to your links on my Freeper page.
Politico changed the headline to: Palin admitted to having questions about 9-11.
“So I Guess in your mind she should keep her mouth shut and not say a word for the next 3 years”
Not sure how you got to that conclusion from my post. I thought she was doing a great job choosing when and how she went public. I want her to run for prez, I see no one else at this time I think is an alternative, just think why give the enemey any more opportunities than they have already to discredit or misinterpret what she says.
So did millions of other people. Of course, Politico doesn't understand the conditional tense of a verb.
