You should be cautious in your use of stupidity as you have brought that indictment on me, a daughter of the King but more importantly, you have brought that indictment on Scripture, the Word of Yahweh. Perhaps you should take care of this matter.

(Luke 13:1 NIV) Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.

(Luke 13:2 NIV) Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way?

(Luke 13:3 NIV) I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.

(Luke 13:4 NIV) Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem?

(Luke 13:5 NIV) I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”

Israel was always being judged by Yahweh for the wickedness of her Kings. That is why America is very short sighted when they think it's all about electing a President and/or Congressman. The righteous fall under the same judgment when Yahweh removes His protection. Read Job.

I was referring to the stupidity of Robertson's comment, but if you want to throw yourself under that label, go ahead.

(Luke 13:4 NIV) Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? ... I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”

Thanks for helping me to prove my point. God does not tip over towers or create earthquakes to punish individuals for the sins of their leaders or countrymen (read my earlier post re:Genesis 18: 22 – 33). Yes, we must all repent, but those that suffer earthquakes are not more guilty. God has not singled out the people of Haiti for special punishment. To say so is ridiculous.

Robertson is a fool of biblical proportions.

LOL!

The rule to follow with Robertson is this: If it's coming out of his mouth, it is gobsmackingly disgraceful and an embarrassment to all Christians and conservatives everywhere.

Amen.

Actually, I spoke correctly. The island has been separated officially since 1697, when the French and Spanish signed a treaty. From that time, until shortly after Haiti’s independence, it was the most wealthy colony in the area, perhaps the world. Definately substantially more wealthy than the Spanish half of the island, which the Haitians actually occupied for a time. After Haitian independence this wealth ended.

Do you think we in America treated our slaves well? Then, you need to read the account written by runaway slave, Fredrick Douglas.

The Dominican Republic also had a population which was over 90% slaves. Again, those slaves were also treated horrifically. The first major uprising of slaves, was in fact in the country we now call the Dominican Republic. Yet history has shown that neither one of our nations has ever been in as horrible a situation as Haiti—before the quake.

—Yet. But, those days may be on the way...

France ended up with the entire island again after most of the Spaniards left as Mexico developed, but even so it appears slaves didn’t account for more than 50% of the much smaller Dominican population (a quarter of Haiti’s). And when wealth is measured in slaves, who is the richest? Are you telling me that modern Haitians brought this horrific trajedy on themselves and they somehow deserve what they have coming to them?

I do not understand what you are talking about. First of all, the Dominican Republic had a ratio of 13:1, slaves to Europeans. This is much more than 50%.

Also, wealth wasn’t being measured in slaves—it was being measured in exports. Coffee and Sugar. For a time, Haiti exported more wealth than North America. The fact is, both nations which share the island, have very identical histories, climates and exports. Haiti use to be rich, yet after independence, they suddenly became the poorest nation on earth; while the Dominican Republic became wealthy.

One thing to keep in mind though, is that the “Pact with the Devil” was for 200 years of service and allegiance. And the time is now up.

For 200 years Haitians have lived in an earthly hell. I pray that those days are over, and they, and we, will turn to the living God as our support and strength.
