I'm not sure what rule allows this to happen.

Nor I. But I believe only appropriation bills are subject to reconciliation.

Which I would interpret as meaning that things like the individual health insurance mandate would have to be stripped out.

In any event, I believe the Dems are in deep trouble. And they know it.

In my book, the kind of liberalism that our current Congress practices is a mental illness. Not much we can do about liberals unless they willingly want therapy, and in their minds, they are not wrong.

Denial is a nice place to visit, but these folks are living it every day.

I pray that you are right! I don’t trust them any further than I could fling Pelosi over the back fence.

What’s to stop them from seating him (if he wins) until AFTER the vote? Anything? (I truly don’t know.)

It’s just as simple as this...these tyrants need a punch to the nose to shake them up.

They need to be reminded that they work for us.

Note: The Dems are going to push this through at all costs and with whatever sausage comes along down the amendment line. There are NOT going to take a chance that we win in Mass. and they lose the 60th vote.

I think this statement by nimrod VanHollen shows that there is an even loonier loony fringe in the House that is willing to make the bill more Socialist. They need time to do that...and they don’t have that now. VHollen is willing to do it anyway and if they lose Mass, use the nuclear option.

Yup-it’s just a ruse at this point; I’m sure they’ll come up with more over the weekend.

They just don’t get it; everytime they open their mouths, it’s just another vote for Scott.

Yep. Revolutionary War II and I predict the members of congress that shoved this onto us will be the first casualties.

Be prepared guys. I hope all of you have at least one gun. let's get it on.

Another record year of even bigger ammo sales ahead.

Of course you can post a link. The man himself did so at reply #5.

AFAIK, no news source has ever protested being link to from FR.

No such rule for ping pong. Ping pong requires 60.

The only procedure that allows for 51 is a budget reconcilation process. It would mean that they’d have to send the whole monstrosity back to committee and break up the bill into numerous pieces.

But aren’t these new exemptions for the unions and government workers changes to the Senate version? I would think nothing could change and the House would have to vote on it as it was passed word for word and absolutely nothing could be changed or else they have to re-vote with 60 UNLESS they were stupid and arrogant enough to go nuclear.

I agree that they’re all self-serving pols, but up until very recently they’ve been in lockstep. Maybe they’ve all been invited to the WH for some of Barry’s special *stash* (the dems have gotta be smokin’ sumthin’), maybe they all will get special sweetheart deals. I don’t know.

Where the heck are some of the Red state Gov’s? Like Bob Riley, Haley Barbour, Bobby Jindal . . . we’ve heard from Rick Perry but I haven’t heard much from the others. Tell them to all go pound sand and we aren’t having ANY of it, death-care OR cap-n-tax.

IMHO, there may not be an election this November. I suspect some of -15nobama’s thugs are working hard to come up with a plan to allow nobama to declare martial law, or something similar, and cancel the election because it “poses a threat to national security,” or something similar.

THAT will start a war.

And that, again, IMHO, is why the RATS are not really sweating the Nov election.

I reckon the revolution is coming. Not much way to stop it now. I pray it will be bloodless.

Seems to me that they would be. Any changes must first pass the House. And, then, the Senate would have to pass on them, too.

Go ahead and do it, you sorry sacks of feces. The blowback will be enormous.

You losers, and all your traitorous, self-serving allies will most surely regret your actions.

Maybe, just maybe, Blumenthal won’t have a cake walk in your state either.

I’d so love to see that seat go to a Republican and I understand there’s at least two that can give him a good run.
