Brown’s daughter to critics of his joke: Mellow out

450+ comments already on the Levin/Beck thread. Evidently you guys are interested in this. Hopefully Politico’s interview will settle the debate about whether Brown’s kids really were outrageously outraged or not:

“I had no idea he was going to do that. I saw the script and there was definitely no mention of that. It was totally off script,” Brown said in a phone interview squeezed in between classes at Boston College.

She admitted that she was slightly embarrassed. “But that’s what gives people a chance to see my real dad.”…

Conservative talk show host Glenn Beck slammed Brown’s acceptance speech on his show Wednesday – specifically for broadcasting on national television that his two daughters are currently “available.” Beck appeared to compare Brown to Gary Condit, the former Democratic congressman who some suspected was involved in the disappearance of his mistress and congressional intern Chandra Levy, who was found dead…

“That is incredible. It just surprises me that people can be so negative,” Ayla said. “I feel as though all fathers across the nation can relate to having daughters and having these conversations…That’s our dad. There’s nothing creepy about it at all.”

She says she’s staying apolitical but is looking forward to meeting a certain roguish Republican ex-governor. Meanwhile, HuffPo and some of the lefty gossip sites are posting a Facebook pic of her and her sister in bikinis posing with their dad — taken at her grandmother’s birthday party, according to Ayla Brown — so if you’ve got any information that might even potentially embarrass this kid, I guess you’ll want to shoot that along to them. Her pop’s a Republican. She’s got it coming.

Beck is a ego maniac, obsessed about him and only himself.

It was absurd for Beck to make the comments that he did. Stuff like that makes our side look like fuddy duddys.

This is why I pretty much just get my news from the Internet now. I like Glenn—sometimes—but honestly I’d rather just read Krauthammer’s column online and the works of some other people that I like, instead of having to deal with the dramafest on TV or radio.

I think, it showed how close the Brown family is. Scott and his daughters are into sports, and probably are used to poking fun at each other.

I love that she wants to meet Sarah.

"The only complaint I have with Glen, is his lumping republicans into the 'as bad or worse then democrats' catagory. "

Well, Glen's a libertarian, and he is stealthfully promoting that agenda by pushing back on the dems and republicans.

Boy, I took it as a slam! Did you not hear how he preceded that with a total rant about the Cosmo spread?

I was multitasking, watching while working on the computer, so maybe it didn't catch my attention enough. I'll take your word for it. I mostly heard him going on about how his wife would respond if he'd said something like that so I figured he was joking.

And before you think I'm a GB hater...I am not! I watch or DVR his show daily and I always give him extreme props for the exposures he has done on the obama administration.

That's cool. I appreciate the information he provides, but I'm not a GB apologist, so I'm not just springing to his defense. I may have just missed his tone and a few sentences.

I think this rant on Scott Brown just proves that Glen really despises republicans.

I don't know if he despises republicans. To be honest, I find I tend to have a similar attitude. It's just a fact that the vast majority of politicians end up corrupted by DC if they spend enough time there. So I suspect that he's afraid of endorsing any particular candidate only to have them betray conservative principles and then have to face that he may have misinformed millions of Americans. As I said, I have a similar distrust of politicians, but I think he's going to have to come to grips with the fact that politicians are humans and are sure to disappoint at some time. If he's waiting for a perfect human to endorse he's going to wait forever and is sure to be disappointed to a greater degree were he to find one he thought was perfect.

I think Glen put himself in a bad light with his little..."just had to get that off of my chest" crap.

I never like someone using that line. It's almost always just an attempt to deflect any criticism of what they'd just said.

How True. I fail to see what people see in this ego-maniac. He’s just another Geraldo over at Fox. He’s playing the crowds to make himself look like an important person, which I don’t believe he is. So there! LOL

I guess Glenn can count out an interview with Senator Brown anytime soon.

Does anyone listen to Beck's radio show? I tried a few times, but seems like a silly morning zoo-type show, instead of a substantive program. This was a surprise to me as a fan of his TV show. I tuned into Mark Levin today and right from the first second he ripped into a serious, incisive, high-octane policy monologue. Glenn & Co. (on radio at least) are all jokes and silliness. Surprising.

Isn’t the definition of “available” a varied one, depending on one’s morals? To a practicing and faithful Christian, available means unmarried and ready to accept suitors. To the amoral world of today though, available means ready to hop in the sack with somebody.
