Some in the GOP think backing RINOs will give us the big tent to bring in the independent voters. I disagree. The wins in NJ, VA and Mass recently were by candidates holding GOP ideas more towards the conservative wing of the GOP than the eastern liberal, RINO wing of the party. If we want wins in 2010 and 2012, we should back candidates holding mainly conservative views on the role of government and on social values. We can’t expect purity on all issues, but small government, right to life and low taxes to spur economic growth are very important.
We cannot fail to also insist that a candidate be firm on never compromising or counterfeiting marriage as what it has always meant in this country, or allowing homosexuals to overrun and eviscerate our military. Not just important, but essential.
