Mr. REID. Mr. President, the next vote will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday. That will be on the motion to invoke cloture on the nomination of Patricia Smith to be Solicitor for the Department of Labor.
I announced earlier that the vote on Monday will end at 5:50 p.m. If somebodys plane is late, or whatever the situation, that is what it is going to have to be. We have to close that vote for procedural purposes, as everybody knows.

The results of that cloture vote is as follows:

What just happened????
They just used Kirk to ensure another Maoist joins the playgroup.
Ram ‘em through before Scott Brown gets to unpack.
Kirk is not a senator—but the Republicans seem afraid to raise the issue. Stockholm Syndrome strikes again.
If I don’t hear back from McConnell or Kyl on the outrageousness of Kirk voting, I will not support a US Senate candidate who does not pledge to vote against them for leadership.
The nominee for Solicitor Department of Labor has been blocked by a hold on the nominations for almost a year. Friday Reid order the vote to obtain cloture to over ride the Senator hold and bring the nomination to the floor for confirmation vote. This was the cloture vote to accomplish that.
No shite! What about TAKE A STAND don’t these GOPers understand? They keep this BS up and I’ll be supporting a Tea Party 3rd party big move in 2012.
Maybe its just another that will be tossed on its ear when the majority changes.
I guess I was asking more why those republicans
abstained.
The fact that kirk is still voting is disgusting.
Agreed, the Repubs should be beating them over the head with why Kirk is still voting and they’re not!
Smith has lied about her involvement with the Wage and Hour Watch program -- five times telling senators that she had no intention to expand the program to the entire state (leaving it localized in New York City), but later emails and other documents revealed that she did indeed plan to expand the program throughout the entire state of New York.
A liar and union advocate, Brown would have made a difference.
