Rep. John Murtha hospitalized in intensive care

WASHINGTON – Rep. John Murtha has been hospitalized in intensive care stemming from complications related to gallbladder surgery.
Spokesman Matt Mazonkey says the 77-year-old Pennsylvania congressman underwent scheduled surgery last week and is currently at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington.
Murtha was also hospitalized in December with gallbladder problems.
The 19-term Democrat was the first Vietnam veteran to serve in Congress. He leads the powerful House Appropriations subcommittee on defense spending.

Unless I’m mistaken, Murtha served part of a term commencing in the spring of in 1974 (he was first elected in a special-election upset when the GOP incumbent died), so this is his 19th term and he’s running for his 20th.

Remember folks. We are better than the other side. We may not like his politics, but he does have family. We need to respect that they are suffering right now wondering what will happen to their father/husband. Let us stay on the high ground. That being said, I still hope he loses his reelection bid.

I have had some personal enemies that just bothered me so much, that I actually sat down and prayed for them. Hard.
Over a couple of weeks my hatred thawed. I was able to reach out to them and make amends. We are not friends, but I sleep better at night.
