There are some people who cannot be helped. Just keep them off the streets between 9 and 3. Society will be better off because of it. End of story.

The promise for the future of our schools NATION lies in a return to basics, setting standards without apologies, helping students to achieve real self-esteem through accomplishment, and with racial prejudice toward none.

Appaling state of affairs. And guaranteed to get worse. Zero is offering high school credit to students who join the Organizing for America class. Gosh, I wonder what they learn in that class???

Wow. What a courageous life of love.
Awesome. I'll send a contribution.

Racist, liberal social policies are perpetuating the plantation mentality and isolation of the black subculture. The only difference is instead of picking cotton they are being channeled into supporting political rather than economic objectives. Either way, its wanton exploitation. Why is it that the other ethnicities, as the author pointed out, do not take this route? Eventually, everything comes down to the individual's decision to succeed or fail. We have African neighbors in our community who do not behave like African-Americans at all -- they are polite and cordial, keep their property up, do not play loud music, and have well-behaved children. They are glad to live in America after having grown up in African "culture."
American mainstream culture is the only culture that should be relevant.

So the kids burn down the classroom and the teacher is blamed for not being “culturally sensitive.” That kind of says it all.

“The soft bigotry of low expectations” was properly described and categorized by President George W. Bush a decade ago.
Unfortunately, his prescription of greater federal involvement in local public education was PRECISELY the opposite of the proper cure. And his choice of Teddy Kennedy as his avatar on the left was mind-numbingly ignorant!

AMEN! This is why I am supporting Andre Bauer for Governor of SC. He gets it. What people who like to attack him don't seem to get is the connection between parents who do not reinforce education and children who cannot/will not do well in school.
My local district has a Public Primary school (grades 2 & 3) where over 85% of the kids receive free or reduced lunch, over 70% of the school is black. Out of the incoming 2nd grade class, 84% can not read on grade level.

"Translation: colleges need to pick up the slack for failures at the high-school level."More accurately, colleges want to pick up the slack for failures at the high-school level. Colleges are part of the education aristocracy as much as the public school are of that aristocracy. Colleges just cost more money to educate the kids (or not) with subjects that were once taught in highschool. Having just put two kids thru college, I know that I paid for classes that they should have had in high school. At least that's the way the system in highly paid Michigan works.
