Tea Party turns nasty: ‘It’s our country – let’s take it back’
London Times ^ | 02/06/2010 | Tim Reid

Posted on 02/06/2010 5:21:54 AM PST by iowamark

They will proudly boast of how they have galvanised ordinary Americans against runaway government spending, but a dark underbelly of xenophobia has been exposed at the first national gathering of the Tea Party movement...

The anti-Government, anti-Establishment movement, which has splintered in the past week with many boycotting this gathering, has billed itself as a revolution born of the widespread disgust at Washington and the way that the nation’s politicians are bankrupting America’s future.

Yet the speech that opened the Nashville event yesterday, an address greeted with whoops and cheers from the mainly white audience, reflects a movement that also appears to have a less attractive side to it.

Tom Tancredo, a former Republican congressman who ran for president in 2008 on an anti-illegal immigration platform, said of the voters who elected Mr Obama: “They could not even spell the word ‘vote’ or say it in English and they put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House — Barack Hussein Obama!”

Decrying America’s multiculturalism, Mr Tancredo said that Republicans and Democrats had voted for a black man because they felt they had to. To a standing ovation, he shouted: “We really do have a culture to pass on to our children: it’s based on Judaeo-Christian values.”

“This is our country,” he declared. “Let’s take it back!” He added, to applause: “Cultures are not the same. Some are better. Ours is best!” The crowd, some wearing recently purchased T-shirts saying “Keep the change — I’ll keep my FREEDOM my GUNS and my MONEY”, loved it...

One featured speaker, a “Patriot Pastor” named Rick Scarborough, told The Times that he was not against legal immigrants “but God has ordained that you are not a nation if you don’t have borders”...

The idiot libs two feet from a Tea Party neighbor don't get it, why would some limey idiot on the other side of the pond understand the concept of freedom? Look at the speed at which British society is decaying, with homeowners in jail for defending their homes and yobs mucking about with impunity like some re-enactment of A Clockwork Orange. The paper doesn't understand the Tea party? I'm am Jack's total lack of surprise.

A few months back I spoke with a woman from Scotland on another board. She did not understand my problem with socialism and no explanation made it clear to her. The scary thing was that a few American women agreed with her. They are happy sheep. This writer is no different. Socialists just do not understand.

After all look what multiculturalism has brought the U.K. a county overrun with Muslims demanding and getting Sharia law. Now that’s nasty!

They know it's happening, that's why they're massively cutting back on their own immigration. They only want future immigrants like the Poles and Czechs because they supposedly assimilate better. You'll never hear weasels such as Tim Reid mentioning it though as they're too busy passing judgments on others.

"King George probably felt the same way."

A fair amount of that pervades virtually any and all Brit commentary on the American condition.

Even more disturbing, however, to Britain, France, and to some degree Russia, China, Germany and Italy (all of whom at one time or another harbored designs for a Global Domination controlled by their own grimey mits) is the way The Tea Party threatens the plans of the One Worlders (which category, unfortunately, includes the Family Bush).

A "One World Government" can never be ushered in for so long as there remains a strong, sovereign and (most signally) armed United States of America. The rest of the world wants our bibles, guns and Constitution (and the Manifest Destiny which goes along with them) taken from us so that they can get on with the tyrannical business of subjugating the entire planet to their will.

Poor babies. You want my guns? You want my country? Come and take it... if you can. :-)

“So now nationalism=xenophobia?”
That has been a lib position for as long as I can remember. They do not believe that our nation is special or our culture superior to any others.

The “Tea Party” isn’t “turn(ing) nasty”. People just want to win, rather than give their Country to loser marxist nobam-ites and their loser ilk.

I wonder if this Times author’s nose would be so out of joint if he realized we are only asking for the same level of strict immigration enforcement that HIS country enforced on it’s immigrants at this time.

Maybe the English should follow the lead of the Tea Party. They more than any other country, have suffered the follies of political correctness to no end. They need to rid their country of the trash that they allowed to enter and take the country over, the last 30 years. Then they need to put some one in 10 Downing St., who thinks like Margaret Thatcher. Lady Thatcher and Ronald Reagan made a great team.

A perfect reason why we do not want a ‘leader’. This way the lefturds can snarl all they want, put out all the propaganda they want waste all of Soros’ money, a good thing really ... And we can continue on our merry way.

Next stop, take out the progressives ...

One lesson that has been learned, there is no such thing as a blue dog or moderate Democrat.
