Al Gore: [Global Warming is] Worse Than We Thought

Al Gore Worse Than We Thought February 12, 2010 : 7:08 PM http://blog.algore.com http://blog.algore.com/2010/02/worse_than_we_thought.html

More evidence of the climate crisis is unfolding before our eyes. The situation in the Arctic is worse than data from satellite pictures have told us:

"For scientists studying the health of Arctic sea ice, satellite observations are absolutely essential for providing the big picture. It was satellites that revealed in September 2007 a record minimum ice coverage in the region -- the result of a massive summer melt. And it was satellites that showed in 2008 and 2009 the modest recovery of late-summer Arctic ice that suggested to some that the specter of a totally ice-free polar ocean might be somewhat less imminent than feared."

"But those high-altitude observations need occasional reality checks from scientists down on the surface. It was during one such on-the-ground research expedition last fall that David Barber, an Arctic climatologist at the University of Manitoba, got an unwelcome surprise."

"Barber was aboard the Canadian research icebreaker Amundsen, checking on ice in the Beaufort Sea north of Alaska and Western Canada. The ship was well inside a region the satellites said should be choked with thick, multiyear-old ice. "That's pretty much a no-go zone for an icebreaker of the Amundsen's size," says Barber. But the ship kept going, at a brisk 13 knots -- its top speed in open water is 13.7 knots -- and even when it finally reached thick ice, he says, "we could still penetrate it easily.""

"In short, as Barber and his colleagues explain in a recent paper in Geophysical Review Letters, the analysis of what the satellites were seeing was wrong. Some of what satellites identified as thick, melt-resistant multiyear ice turned out to be, in Barber's words, "full of holes, like Swiss cheese. We haven't seen this sort of thing before.""

Could somebody send Pope Al the memo, please?

And perhaps Al could examine the records of Scandinavian explorers over the past millenium, and get some quotes from them about the amount of sea ice in the Artic.

You cant blame the fat fraud for trying to milk a few more dollars out of his scam. It made him a billionaire already, but people are seeing thru it now. We are so lucky that Algore didn’t manage to steal the presidency in 2000.

I dunno. Given the current regime.

I wonder though... is it worse to have a President who actually believes this AGW nonsense (Al Gore)? Or is it worse to have a President who isn't stupid enough to believe it, or is surrounded by parties who don't believe it, but who (as tyrants do) exploit the belief for political gain?

I am sick of freezing this Winter. Snow and ice, picked over store shelves, being at risk for being snowed or iced in at work. Sick of it! Bring on the damn global warming already!
I still hate you ALgore. President Bush may not have been perfect but thank God we were spared the likes of you.

Right.... Weekly World News science at best!

If it was caused by global warming, or warming of any kind, they most certainly would have seen this before, further South. To say it's a totally new phenomenom would not indicate it came from warming. Every Spring it gets warm enough to melt ice. We'd see this every year.

But in 2008 and 2009, the Summer minimum ice increased each year, so the trend (at least for the past two years has been more ice:

1960 was a bad year for glo-bull warming! It snowed and snowed and snowed in the months of Jan and Feb!

1962 was a bad year for glo-bull warming! In January there was an intense cold spell covering all the plains from New Mexico to the Mississippi! It was so cold the paved roads broke up!

1965 was a bad year for glo-bull warming! We had a massive ice storm and sevreal bad snow storms in late Feburary!

1968 was a bad year for glo-bull warming! March 14, a dry front came through and dropped 18-24 inches on the area in Oklahoma and Arkansas. It shut down the area for days!

1977 was a bad year because of glo-bull warming! They said we were going into an ICE AGE as we got a massive snow storm in Jan and Feb of that year!

Now, if heavy snowfalls are caused by glo-bull warming today, it MUST have happened in the past quite often!

I don't see any evidence that Al Gore ever believed his global warming alarmism.

If Al Gore really, truly believed, he wouldn't have been ducking from debate, ever, in the past 20 years. He would have happy to show all of his evidence and debate it with any non-believers until the cows come home.

He would have done everything in his power to avoid the appearance of hypocrisy as well. He would have reduced his actual carbon footprint substantially. He would live in a small, sustainable house powered entirely by solar or wind energy. He would eat small portions of sustainable, locally grown ingredients. He would limit his travel, and ride mass transportation whenever possible.

Also, if Al Gore really believed in the science of global warming, he would be thrilled to find evidence which contradicts his beliefs. He wouldn't be burying it and hiding from it. Imagine if you thought you had cancer. Later on, evidence surfaces that you didn't have cancer, or that it wasn't as bad as you thought. Would you be happy or sad about that?

I'm not cutting Gore one inch of slack on this whole debacle. He needs to be publicly humiliated for the rest of eternity. His name needs to be synonymous with Charles Ponzi or Bernie Madoff as one of the great swindlers in history.

Duh. The holes are from rednecks flying over the Arctic dropping SUV’s out of the planes. Instant holes in the ice. I’m surprised the scientist quoted in the article didn’t know that. It’s basic to AGW theory.

It get worse! I just found this:

Al Gore to Demand Partial Recount of Climate Data

As the impact of the global warming scandal widens, long time spokesperson of the movement demanded a partial recount of IPCC data. In asking for the partial recount, Mr Gore asked that any data tending to show global cooling should be re-counted while data tending to show global warming be left as it is.

When asked whether this would tend to skew the data in favor of global warming, Mr. Gore explained, “There is no sense in us recounting data that is correct, We only need to recount the data that is clearly wrong.”
