The last few days have me once again at the center of a lot of talk. This time, its not what I asked candidate Obama or what he said back to me. But it is because I again said exactly what was on mind and some people have now rather gleefully seen my words as a stumble on the national stage. Maybe soor maybe its another step toward honesty that only looks like a stumble to those who think every word must be scrubbed for effect and the political advantage of those behind the curtain.
For those who missed it, I questioned whether Sarah Palin should have supported John McCain in his Arizona Senate race. I said it because I cant help but think that this honest-to- goodness, true blue American hero has been changed by Washington, D.C. and not for the better. I said that instead of him making me, as a reporter asserted, he ruined my life. Truthfully I wish I hadnt said that last part or at least had the chance to fully explain it because its not at all the rest of the story.

Pretty well said, IMO.
Wow! Very heartfelt! He’s an excellent writer.

And to this: "I do think Washington, D.C. changes most people for the worse. There is a sense of entitlement..."
Amen! Couldn't have said that any better myself!!
Yes, much better than what he said earlier. Unfortunately, the press will not report it, because it doesn’t further their agenda the way his earlier, incautious words did.
He can write better than your average New York Time columnist. Heartfelt and meaningful.
And I would heartily agree!
I think he speaks for a great many of his fellow citizens as well!
Excellent article by Joe “The Plumber”. He speaks from the heart and keeps it real. I wish Palin would stand on her principles and respectfully drop her support for McCain. In my humble opinion, that alone would increase her support from conservatives.
Joe hits it out of the ball park. We need reformers, patriots like this in Washington.
I decided to use my moment in the spotlight to ask hard questions and say things that are true because I dont hear those questions or statements from the media or most in the political world.

He has written a good piece here, and I have a feeling that he is doing a lot of good for the country.

Glad he clarified.
Once again the DBM blew things out of proportion and we fell for it hook line and sinker.
To write like your average NY Times columnist you'd have to plagiarize much of your article, and I don't think he did that...so much better.
I think Joe did an excellent job on this. John McCains achievements as an American cannot be dismissed. His love of country is real. Somewhere along the way though, he failed to remember what he’d been fighting for.
I have said before, McCain deserves our respect in many ways. It is for that reason which we must send an old man into retirement with the dignity he’s earned, not the politics he’s played. There is evidence, despite the fact that I voted for him in 08, that he’s off the reservation on some really key issues.
As much as I think that he believes he is doing whats best for America, I more strongly believe that Joe is correct. Washington has changed McCain, and not for the better. Not for into man he should be, but into the man Washington thinks he should be.
Well John McCain. Cocktail parties be damned. You can enjoy them when your out of the path of fame and soundbites. If Hayworth beats you, its not because we don’t respect you. It’s because we’re trying to save what’s left of your pride.
