He put his foot in it when did a back-door state income tax by implementing a business payroll tax along with a couple of other things. Unfortunately, Medina has zero experience with public office, she's only worked for the GOP [anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong]

That's kind of a really big step, IMHO.

KBH deserves to be tossed out the door onto her RINO backside.

KBH isn’t up for re-election this year...but she has said she is retiring one way or the other. We shall see.

How did Early voting go up your way? I haven't looked at a lot of smaller Counties but did look at Jefferson and there were almost 15,000 early votes with it being like 10,000+ dems to about 4,500 GOP. It seems to me that there was a good bit of interest based upon EV turnout.

Here is the results posted by the SOS for the largest 15 Counties in Texas. My guess is that the GOP may top the turnout of previous gov primaries which has never been above 700,000 votes. It was just over 650,000 in 2006.

I just returned from the polls. The rat side had 4 booths and was empty(I guess they are not awake yet) while the GOP side had 8 booths and was full. Republican voters are obviously motivated this year.

Voting was heavy the first few days but I don't know how it went since.

We have a 3-way congressional race going for congress. Kevin Brady voted for the bailout...I didn't vote for him. I would love if he gets beat but I doubt it. Both challengers are his neighbors in Conroe.

The piney woods of SE Texas got screwed with the Tom DeLay redistricting of 2000. We lost all of our congresscritters to the population centers of Houston, etc. They don’t have the pineywoods at heart in their agendas, imo.

The early results look good for Republicans. But we have to get the message out to vote STRAIGHT TICKET in November to get the local candidates in office - the judges, commissioners, etc. Dems almost always vote straight ticket and can beat us in the urban areas even with lesser turnout if the Republicans don't vote down ballot. We need these candidates in office (1) to have conservative policy at the local level and (2) to create a large pool of conservative candidates with experience ready to provide a credible primary threat to any Congressional or legislative candidates that feel compelled to "compromise".

Well, at least TD’s redistricting got rid of Jack Brooks (Or allowed us to get rid of him). Several other lib dims too.
Of course we replaced Brooks with Ron Paul so WTF?

KBH has a 90% lifetime ACU rating, Collins and Snowe are less than 50%.

It could be argued that KBH could not have gotten out of a standard Republican primary and runoff.

It has been argued that John Tower would never have been a Senator without the same setup.

Actually Brooks was defeated in 1994 by Stockman. Stockman took the district for one term and Nick Lampson then held it for until the DeLay redistricting went into effect.

We were saved by Tom DeLay!

Our congressmen before re-districting were: Jack Brooks, Charlie Wilson, and Jim Turner. Brady is the first Repub we've had but he has been there too long and now only thinks about his seat on the House Ways and Means committee. He is in his 14th year of what he promised would be self-imposed term limit of 12 years of "service."

I think Ted Poe has been better than anybody Beaumont voters have elected. The last elected Dem from Beaumont, whose name escapes me, who ran for and won DeLay's seat, was a home healthcare Medicare cheat.

I think re-districting has served us well. The Golden Triangle voters are, IMO, a bunch of idiots and our Piney Woods bunch aren't much better...but we do vote Repub in state and fed elections. Would you believe Repubs control 19 of 20 precincts in our county?
