WASHINGTON—Looking to push the "long and wrenching debate" over health care into its final stages, President Barack Obama asked lawmakers to schedule a vote on overhaul legislation "in the next few weeks."

"No matter which approach you favor, I believe the United States Congress owes the American people a final vote on health-care reform," Mr. Obama said Wednesday in remarks at the White House. "We have debated this issue thoroughly, not just for a year, but for decades."

If we ever get a Republican president again with a GOP majority in the Senate and they filibuster a single nominee, then there should be only up or down votes. Republicans had better not be afraid to exercise that “constitutional option.”

If he actually had the votes, they’d be voting tomorrow.

Same shoe, different foot. McCain saw the error in blocking the filibuster and worked out a deal for the Supremes. The GOP was irate. Now, the GOP needs a Dem deal maker or their fili power is gone.

OK. After November we can have another ‘up or down’ vote to repeal it.

It is now our job as freepers to work hard, diligently and intelligently, to see that this bill is soundly defeated.
Telephone calls, letters, cards, protests, marches, donations,
interviews, whatever it takes. WE MUST DEFEAT THIS BILL!!
We must work on those most vulnerable in the U.S. House.

I’ve thinking exactly that for weeks. If the repubs can throw enough sand in the gears to run out the clock till Easter, we may dodge this bullet.

Dems don’t want to spend spring break listening outraged consitiutuents and it’s getting close to the time they have got to start their campaigns for Novemeber.

Which one of his brilliant advisors suggested that, the day after the Post Office says they have to cut out Saturday delivery because of budget shortfalls, would be a good day for him to announce another government monopoly?

I hope that the dems force Obama to spend all of his slush fund on this project and, please guys, do not go cheaply. get at least one or two billion for your states and at least 2 to 3 million for your war chests.

Health Care Reform is a power grab and a tool to destroy liberty nothing more.

Whose right is health care? Do you think it's yours? Hint: Only if you're a communist.

According to Senate rules, the health care bill MUST have 60 votes. Simple majority is only for budget bills or to confirm judicial nominees. Those who say there are extenuating circumstances or this health bill is some kind of exception that only requires a simple majority are flat out wrong because there is no factual basis to make that claim. The bill needs 60 votes.

If the Democrats insist on voting on a health reform bill in the Senate and pass it with less than 60 votes then that is against Senate rules and the outcome is ILLEGITIMATE. Any Senate leaders who would drive such an illegitimate process are participating in an act of corruption.

Republicans need to go on the offensive and make sure the public understands this.
