Layman said the suspect walked up to the main entrance of the Pentagon at 6:40 p.m. and opened fire. He hit two officers. The officers fired back, and the suspect was hit. His injures are more serious.Considering the weapons the cops at the entrance carry...

Pentagon Police Chief Richard Keevill speaking now. Says the wounds to the officers were grazes. Says the suspect, didn't say anything before shooting, he "walked up very cool," "reached in his pants like people do to pull out a pass and instead pulled out a gun."
Says gunman is American citizen as far as he knows. Won't describe gunman.

It’s very hard to hear the questions- that’s why I asked...did I HEAR that right? I thought I heard that..
But I’ll tell you- it’s pretty damn strange to just walk up to a couple of Pentagon officials and start shooting without saying a WORD.

CNN is the only cable news outlet carrying the Pentagon press conference.
Chief "can't answer" how many shots were fired. Says there was a likely a third officer involved. Says Pentagon police use a Glock .40 caliber semi-automatic. Says gunman did not get inside Pentagon.

Jeez, the exchange happened so fast and I was straining to hear - I honestly don’t recall if it was male or female.
It IS very strange just to walk up to two policemen and start shooting.
Call me crazy, but I’m getting a whiff of Islam.
(Now the chief says it is inappropriate to describe how the assailant was dressed? Weird...)
