Conservative opponents of the Obama administration are urging supporters to resist the upcoming US census, saying it asks too many questions and reflects increasing government intrusion into private matters.
The census, held every 10 years since 1790, is becoming a focal point for the growing anti-government movement in the US.
The government will endeavour to count every person living in the US, regardless of legal, immigration or citizenship status. The count, which helps determine political representation and the distribution of hundreds of billions of dollars in government funds, is mandated by the constitution.
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, a virulently conservative, anti-Obama Republican from Minnesota, has urged supporters to give only the number of people living in their household, saying nothing more is required by the constitution. Participation in the census is required by law and to refuse, or to falsify information, is punishable by fines that can range from $100 up to $500 (about £60 to £300), although the law is rarely enforced.

This year’s census will ask 10 questions, including name, age, sex, whether the respondent owns or rents a home, and questions about race and ethnicity. The census form does not ask about immigration status, and the information is confidential..
Census forms are being mailed this month and will consist of just 10 questions. These questions will help determine how more than $400 billion in federal funds will be distributed to places like hospitals, schools, senior centers, etc. Households that do not return the form may expect to receive an in-person visit from a census taker.

My biggest frustration with the census right now are the bogus commercials running about how they influence the number of teachers and street lights. The census is here for one thing, to determine representation and that is it.
I will only answer 2 questions....
How many in household. 2
Race. Native American
Nuff said. Over. Done
THIS is the reason to boycott it, if any. OVERCOUNTING the citizenry is a violation of the intent of the census.
So I just got the mail. Got a letter from the Census. Wasn’t the Census form. It was a letter to me telling me they are going to mail me the Census form next week. In seven languages.
First class letter times how many households? Unbelievable.
why do they ask about our race? ...anyone know?

No conserative would advocate resisting the census. It's mandated by the Constitution. As for all of the nosy questions 0bama has mandated? ...that is an entirely different matter.

Might have something to do with apportionment.
After all, they don't have to include the name, just the ancestry status counts by zip code. That'll do for the boundary-drawers, won't it? And nobody's privacy is violated. Just their voting value, sigh.

I urge Americans to throw the census forms away and run off any census taker that arrives at the door.
The Constitution says ‘enumerate’ to count... there is no authorization to take any other information.
There will be a ‘long form’ for (I believe - every 5th. person).
There will a census taker on your front porch if you don’t comply (and maybe even if you do) and he/she will have a GPS device.
I haven’t filled out a census form since 1980. And then I marked out all identifying information and returned a ‘count’ of people by age and gender. I have not filed a census form since 1980 and will not ever again.
If a census taker arrives on my property they will be ordered to leave. If they attempt to use the GPS device I will take it from them and destroy it.
I they don’t leave I will call 911 and have them removed as is my right.
Counting is not name taking, income listing, etc. it is Counting - enumerating.
