I don't think so. I think the most they have is 201 yeas, and that is likely to FALL not rise as it becomes clear to some members in vulnerable seats that the bill will fail, and they have nothing to gain by casting a yes vote and everything to gain by appearing to be courageous.
I also see this aas an opportunity for a revolt against Nancy Pelosi. This bill fails and she is diminished. Politics being the ruthless game it is, there may be some who will vote no for no other reason that to bring Pelosi down, once they see that outcome in the cards anyway.
“Jerry Costello (Ill.) * (Y) STUPAK”
On this morning’s radio news, Congressman Costello said he was a “no” vote, because he thinks the federal government should be concentrating on jobs - not health care.
I hope that he is sincere - not just holding out for a porkulus handout of some sort.
Selma,
that is significant. Costello. Not just because his vote puts some counts up now to ‘214 NO’, but because if Pelosi has failed so totally with Costello, then she is likely failing with so many others on that list.
Well bring it on. Let's vote today! The Republicans should call them on this and remind the world that it is Obama and Pelosi who are dragging their feet on a vote.
Sadly, I'm afraid I hit the nail directly on the head.
Yes, and if ever we needed as a Nation to be sheltered by the Almighty, now is the time.
Nope, wasn't in doubt. And wasn't wrong either.
Hey! I guess your head was finally able to get squeezed back into the forum. Better not stay too long, you might not be able to get back out.
That explains why your head is still stuck where it is.
