Fishermen’s fear: Public's'right to fish shifting under Obama?
Christian Science Monitor ^ | 3/9/2010 | Patrik Jonsson

The Obama administration has proposed using United Nations-guided principles to expand a type of zoning to coastal and even some inland waters. That’s raising concerns among fishermen that their favorite fishing holes may soon be off-limits for bait-casting. In the battle of incremental change that epitomizes the American conservation movement, many weekend anglers fear that the Obama administration’s promise to “fundamentally change” water management in the US will erode what they call the public’s “right to fish,” in turn creating economic losses for the $82 billion recreational fishing industry and a further deterioration of the American outdoorsman’s legacy...

If this is true, Obama can kiss 1/2 his African American constituency goodbye!

Just another reminder that your elected officials do not work for you. And they are getting bolder; they don’t even pretend to work for you.

Oh it is true: see pdf in earlier thread. When Hussein is done, there will not be any rights left, except those he aggregates to himself and the other favored political elite.

Bottom line: Mankind has been fishing since pre-Biblical times, and no gaddamned modern-day Caesar is gonna stop it by decree.

Another way for Stalin to control the food supply. Poor Ukrainians were starved to death by Stalin.

True, but Ukrainians didn't have the vast waterway access that we do. Nor were they as well-armed.

Don't worry. If you're in a union, you will still be allowed to fish.

Below is the wish list 29 environmentalist groups presented to Obama the month he was elected: http://docs.nrdc.org/legislation/leg_08112401.asp

Note page 15-5:

6. Support the reauthorization of the National Marine Sanctuaries Act and the establishment of a system of Ocean Heritage Areas

Such reauthorization should set the stage for the establishment of a national network of Ocean Heritage Areas that comprise a significant portion of the Federal EEZ and include a range of allowable uses, from no take zones to areas where some uses (e.g. recreational fishing) could be allowed.

The EEZ extends out 200 miles from the coast.

There is going to be a report on this on the Fox Business Network. All I know that here in Montana this will not ever, ever be taken sitting down and there will be an uprising like you have never seen.

I am in the fishing business, as a fly fishing guide. The funny thing is that the majority in this biz are liberals who voted for the little o. It would be interesting to see how they react if their little hero outlawed fishing.

First they banned fishing in the oceans, but you did nothing since you live in the mountains. Then they banned fishing in low coastal rivers, and you did nothing because it does not affect you. Then they told you that you can no longer fish in Yellowstone National Park, and there was no one left for you to cry to. BTW, I have been predicting a fishing ban in YNP for years.

At least we can now shoot the fish with our handguns. I do agree with your prediction.

BTW, I'm a Bozemanite.
