I’m sure it must be obvious, but I don’t get it...why does the Dept. of Ed. need shotguns? In fact, why do we need a Dept. of Ed.?

14 in. LOP refers to “Length of Pull”. In shotgunning, this refers to the measured distance between the inside of the shooter’s elbow and the first joint of the trigger finger. This is in effect the distance between the trigger and the butt of the shotgun. In trapshooting, this is adjustable on some shotguns by adjusting screws, or adding a recoil pad. 14 in. is a general figure for arsenal-grade weapons and means (generally) that any trained shooter can bring this weapon on target with a high degree of accuracy. The Remington 870 is an excellent choice for a defensive shotgun.

Of course, why the Dept. of Education needs combat grade shotguns is another matter entirely.

Or they’ll use them to commit sewercide because of the impending general default caused by employed government waste. They should purchases Claymores, too, although they might encounter some difficulty in deciding how to orient those (”FRONT TOWARD ENEMY”). ;-)

Combat training? I don't remember that course in high school. Hmm, college did have a "rifle marksmanship" course which was fun...

Seriously, why do ED personnel need combat training?

So!! the department of education has a combat element? Why?

Did the FBI pick up rumors of a dangerous insurgency by third graders?

I think I will call my congress man in the morning.

I’d like to think that they’re going to build trap ranges, but...you know. This is really weird. The Dept. of Education was created by Jimmy Carter as a campaign promise to the teachers union for supporting his presidential campaign. In doing so, Carter in effect gave the hyper-left NEA a cabinet post, and total control over public education in our country. We’re reaping that harvest now.

If one were to look past the obvious silliness of the headline I would assume that the weapons are for building security in D.C. Of course Duncan could be planning a trip back to Chicago. That alone would justify the purchase.

Homeschoolers.

They better beware, though.
Most homeschoolers (and their children) have better and longer range guns, and know how to use them.

How many do they have in the "existing shotgun inventory"?

Do they have an "existing inventory" of other-than-shotguns?
