In January, Virginia Thomas created Liberty Central Inc., a nonprofit lobbying group whose website will organize activism around a set of conservative "core principles," she said.-snip-
"I adore all the new citizen patriots who are rising up across this country," Thomas, who goes by Ginni, said on the panel at the Conservative Political Action Conference. "I have felt called to the front lines with you, with my fellow citizens, to preserve what made America great."
Wow. I was at CPAC and I'm pretty sure I saw/heard this entire panel:
Thursday, February 18th, 11:45AM:
"Saving Freedom One Patriot at a Time" - Marriott Ballroom
Ginni Thomas, LibertyCentral.org
Dana Loesch, St. Louis Tea Party
John O'Hara, author of A New American Tea Party
Jenny Beth Martin, Tea Party Patriots
Moderator: Andrew Moylan, National Taxpayers Union
I had no idea that "Ginni Thomas" was Virginia Thomas, Justice Clarence Thomas' wife!
Thanks for the heads up on this one, ExTexasRedhead and hoosiermama.

She is another Dick Armey. I wonder how many factions we can have?

So when is the LA Slimes going to run an article on Stephen Reinhardt of the Ninth Circuit and his wife who was the director of the ACLU in Southern California for the majority of his career?Hmmm... e-mail that to the LA Slimes... I'd be interested in their reply. ;-)

I am a huge admirer of Justice Thomas. However, I am going to wait and see what Mrs. Thomas does with Liberty Central, when she launches it in May. I noticed, from the article, that she is “intrigued” by Glenn Beck. Yikes:-)

The Laws of this Republic exist to Secure the Inalienable Rights of the Governed - NOT so religious miscreants can wall themselves off and molest children. Prior to the raid, the state of Texas investigated, and found no child abuse. But be that as it may, I don't believe it's within the scope of the BATF's responsibilities to enforce the state laws against child molestation. It was not a factor in the initial raid. Nor is the FBI, their involvement was as "cleanup detail" when the BATFers screwed the pooch. The child abuse accusations were a convenient justification for the final assault.
In reality, Waco was about guns, not religion or child abuse, although the latter two did play a role. They were wackos, but wackos have rights too.

God Bless her and Justice Thomas! I truly love that man and remember well the terrible treatment he received from the Socialist/Marxist Liberals at the time of his appointment to the SCOTUS.
If you have not read Justice Thomas’ book “My GrandFather’s Son”, it is a must read.

Worse, he is a uninformed and ignorant jerk. Besides that, he’s wrong on many, many counts.

>>She [Mrs. Thomas] is a former member of CAN (Cult Awareness Network)
It's ironic David Koresh's antics have enabled an expansion of the very police powers he claimed he was protecting himself, and his followers, from; government, the
fear of which,
Koresh exploited to herd, corral, and sequester those hiding
cult members. Likewise, Timothy McVeigh accomplished
nothing but a new and improved OKC Federal Building and an increased acceptance among the sheeple for more government police powers.
Koresh, McVeigh, Charles Manson - did ANY of these CULTS result in a net loss in the government's police powers, or its willingness to abuse those power? Nope, all they did, via their own actions, was create fearful reasons to rationalize a yet further increase in the powers of the thing, the government, they feared; Fear those so inclined who come after then exploit for their own purposes... and so it goes - around and around until the government bureaucratic pyramid becomes so large that it crushes and consumes everything beneath it.
The Tea Party is a movement toward dusting off and embracing the American First Principles. The principles in which governance, rather than being exploited as a thing to be feared - is RESTORED to an instrument of LAW, instituted by the governed to effect the security of their own, inalienable rights.
It's a Republic - not a CULT.
Would the inertia toward police-state have been increased, as it HAS, if Koresh & Co. had SIMPLY FOLLOWED THE LAW?

The whole debacle is a good example of why LAW, not fear and the exploitation (religious and otherwise) of fear, should govern the Republic.

No, I like where I am.
I’m quite pleased Mrs. Thomas has become a Tea Partier.
Seems to me her Anti-Cult history is a plus that will lend credibility to a movement sometimes criticized by its enemies as a harbinger of Racists and Religious Wackos.
Furthermore, her legal affiliations reinforce the fact the Tea Party movement’s intent is restoration of the Republic, a system of Government characterized by the Rule of LAW - and NOT intent upon furthering the agenda of a few Anarchic Goooberment (Republic)-hating religious secessionist wing-nuts.

Don’t forget about Judge Marjorie Rendell (U.S. 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals), whose husband happens to be the Democrat governor of Pa., Ed Rendell.
