Hoyer: Not at 216 yet

Countering some of the "we've got it" optimism of several colleagues, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer seems to be saying that Democrats do not yet have the 216 votes they need to pass health care reform.

"We’re going to get those 216 votes because we believe that they understand that Americans want health care reform by an overwhelming majority," Hoyer said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

When host David Gregory asked Hoyer if he has the votes now, the Maryland Democrat said: "I think we’re going to have 216 when the roll is called, yes."

Gregory: "But not yet? You're not nailed down, a few behind?"

Hoyer: "There are still members looking at it, trying to make up their minds, we think 216 plus votes when we call the roll.

If they call for a vote, they have the numbers. We have a bunch of lawyers running Congress. A good lawyer doesn’t ask a question he doesn’t know the answer to already....

“...I don’t think the Senate will pick this back up.
If this passes today they will have what they want
and have no need to get back into the mudpit...”
-
Exactly.
If the senate passes a bill (which they did);
and the house approves that bill (which they are proposing to do);
then what is the motivation for the senate to consider making changes?
They will already have what they want.

Come to think of it (after my 4th cup of coffee finally has me awake), let's say that Stupak agrees to vote in favor in exchange for a Presidential Veto of Federally Funded Abortions. What will happen to the 40 or so Democrats who are claiming they are voting for this bill because of that provision??

oh the irony, that we the people could end up victorious because of the Pro-Abortion crowd.

What amazes me is that getting re-elected should be the LEAST of their concerns if those bass turds pull this crap.

House Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson says Democrats have clinched the 216 votes they need to pass President Barack Obama’s health-reform plan. “We have the votes now — as we speak,” Larson told ABC’s “This Week.” “President Roosevelt passed Social Security. Lyndon Johnson passed Medicare. Today, Barack Obama will pass health-care reform.” Pressed if some Democrats may lose their seats for supporting health reform, Larson said: “Yes. It’s quite possible.” Leaders expect the vote between 6 p.m. and midnight.

When this bill goes through, all of you military retiree’s out their are going to lose your Tricare. Did you really believe the lie you were told when you enlisted that you would have healthcare the rest of your life. I did!
I am so angry that I could bite nails in two.

Would a class action law suit against the government work?

I don't think you can sue the government, but we still have the 2nd amendment.

Hey Steny, when was the last time you were outside of DC?

After yesterday I think they should know that people really, really don’t want this. Regardless of how this turns out, many thanks to the good Patriots who made it to D.C. yesterday.

So CODE RED is saying only 7 undecideds with the count,now, at 212 to 212 means we have to get 4 of the 7 to win. That is going to be a challenge but don’t give up. Keep praying.

but we still have the 2nd amendment.

Politicians can sh&^ on the Constitution all they want, but if someone steps up o defend it with a firearm, they will be labeled a terroist and their life ruined (if they aren't killed).

The cards are stacked. AMerica was a great idea while it lasted.
