Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown ramped up his attacks on former eBay CEO Meg Whitman on Saturday, saying she has proposed policies to put California "in the loving embrace of Wall Street" while trying to "scapegoat" immigrants and silence working people with what he called an unprecedented effort to "buy the election."
"When things get tough ... do we crush the poor even more, do we scapegoat the immigrants, do we make the enemy the public servants who serve us in all manner of capacity?" he said. "That's the temptation we have to fight. Now, more than ever, a sense of morality ... and the true spirit of democracy has to be the spirit going forward."
The state attorney general and former two-term governor delivered the broadside during a question-and-answer session seeking the endorsement of the 87,000-member Oakland-based California Nurses Association, one of two key appearances Saturday before labor unions in which he aimed to draw a sharp contrast between his campaign and a corporate executive who would "roll over jobs, roll over people, roll over families." Brown also appeared Saturday in Oakland before a town hall gathering of the Service Employees International Union, one of a dozen across the state in which 2,000 union members participated via teleconference.
The Democratic candidate won the endorsement of both the 700,000-member SEIU and the nurses union.

Shut up Brown.
*yawn* two libs fighting
How old is Jerry Brown?
Take another hit of windowpane, Moonbeam and chill!
God help the (once) Great Golden State.
He is in his early 70s.
Well, I am voting for Brown, but we sure don’t have a lot to work with do we? Who else is running besides Whitman on the republican ticket?
NO - DO NOT BE COMPLACENT ON THIS ELECTION.
We want Whitman to win and here is why: Redistricting... another Democrat gerrymander would both destroy the state further and cost GOP representation for the next decade.
Whitman is surely more reasonable than Moonbeam Jerry.
Food for thought!
Don’t have a dog in that hunt (between those two) so really don’t care!
The GOP needs to put up a pro-life candidate if they expect to get this Christian’s vote.
typos, I hate ‘em. I am voting for brown in my last comment should read, “I AM NOT VOTING FOR BROWN. No way would I ever vote for that evil bas****.
I grew up in California. I love my memories from there even though Texas has my heart.I would hate to see California fall completely in the tank.
don’t know much about Whitman. BUT, I think every State needs someone that understands the economic crisis we are in now.
“Well, I am voting for Brown”
A vote for ANY Democrat is a vote to endorse socialized medicine.
Do you support the Government takeover of healthcare?
They WHY vote for ANYONE in the party that just did it?
It’s madness.
Taxifornia does not have a chance in the hands of Moonbeam. He is an Obama-pandering radical lib. Whitman is not. At least with her, there is a chance for someone who can fight, albeit uphill against a lib-saturated state legislature.
If Moonbeam wins, the official language of Taxifornia will be Mexican, and all that will remain in Taxifornia will be retirees and illegal Mexicans (unless the Dims pass amnesty) -— then we start all over again building up the illegals. You will still be paying for the others.
Listen dumb ass, I made a typo and corrected it, read further down the thread. I would never vote for Brown.
Whiteman donates to Democrats and agrees with them. She’s another Scozzafava.
He'd be the oldest Governor in the state's history.
Well, one thing Whitman Won’t do is approve of California’s own Cap and Tax. Jerry’s for it naturally, she’s against it. Reason enough to vote for Whitman.
Cal Dems - still walking with eyes wide shut.
My 90 year old dad, a true yellow dog Dem and my true Dem mom have vowed to vote for anyone not a Democrat on the ballot in November. I never thought I would see the day they would curse Pelosi, Feinstein, and the Democrats.
Maybe there is hope and change coming.
