Delay is the primary reason why Republicans spent money that was not theirs. They gave Murtha money, they gave all the guys who went to jail money for projects and Delay got fat and happy traveling on K ST dollars to play golf all over the world. He was a fraud all along!!

“Delay is the primary reason why Republicans spent money that was not theirs.”

Almost agree. The Bush administration as a whole took the view that cutting spending was too hard and that if they increased spending to certain groups they would have a permanent majority (20 years or so). So, they got comfortable with big government. It was stupid, immoral, and self-serving, but I was in a meeting with the administration in which this was essentially the message.

That is great for India. Too bad we are constrained by PC and lawless politicians to do such a thing.

I wanted to be as simple as possible, but my proposal would also include immediate family only and NO sponsorships after that. Additionally no family not born in the US cannot achieve citizenship.

What you want and what is possible are two different issues. And even then, you are talking about bringing in another 40 to 50 million more legal immigrants. We can't absorb those kinds of numbers. And there is no way that you can prevent green card holders from becoming citizens. Legally and politically it would never fly.

And even if they weren't made citizens, they would be entitled to all the other benefits of citizenship except voting. They would be second class Americans, which is alien to our beliefs. We had slaves at one time, but it was very costly to remedy it.

The latter half of the 19th century was built by non citizen immigrants in the major cities. Many of these, especially Italians, returned to their homeland. Between 1900 and 1910 as many Italians shipped out east as arrived from the east.We hear from immigration advocates that these people want economic opportunities. These can be achieved if they forego any goal of citizenship.

As for 40 or 50 million new people, if there are 12 million illegals already here their immediate families might add 30 million. But with no hope of family reunion beyond that how many might decide to stay home?

This is an example of how big government gets to be a part of our society and each party DECIDES which part of BIG they want to be. What crap.
