Repeal efforts are underway: Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) plans to introduce a bill Tuesday or Wednesday of this week and is working to gather cosponsors, according to his office. DeMint explained the move in an op-ed published today in USA Today. "When a president and a Congress collude to violate the Constitution and ignore the American people, everything our nation stands for is at risk. It's not too late to undo the damage," DeMint wrote. (DeMint's bill consists of one sentence, stating that "The Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care act, and the amendments made by that Act, are repealed.")
Rep. Steve King (R-IA), meanwhile, plans to introduce a repeal bill in the House. Similar bills are expected from other members. He released this statement Monday morning:
"Today the work begins to repeal Obamacare and restore the principles of liberty that made America a great nation. The American people must take their country back by methodically eliminating every vestige of creeping socialism, including socialized medicine. The Pelosi Democrats will pay a price for their overreach. This fight is far from over."

DeMint has a fund raising letter out. It is virtually impossible to repeal this law through legislative means because of the 60 vote rule in the Senate and the two thirds rule on a veto. This is NONSENSE. The only realistic way i s through the court.
Nonsense. Relying on the courts is going to be futile. We’ll need to establish legislation to kill it, and it can be voted on next January 21, when alot fewer democrats are in office.
Except that this bill will be passed through reconciliation by 51 votes- NOT the normal 60 required for legislation.
I was wondering why they are starting this so early when they know they can’t win the votes in the current Congress. So, can you explain the process of how the current Congress can let this get started through the review process and hold off the vote until January? Since we don’t have control of the committees, it seems like it would be hard for us to do that.
If they submit repeal bills every day till November, who cares if they’re successful? Tie up the Senate so they can’t shred the Constitution more than they already have.

Repeal is unlikely in the foreseeable future. The court is actually a pretty good shot.
The problem is that the President will veto it. It takes 67 votes to override a veto. It cannot be repealed until a Republican President is in office, along with a Rep. Congress.

Every one running for office in November needs to be running on a REPEAL platform!

But any repeal would have to overcome a filibuster with the 60 vote threshhold and also a 67 vote veto override while Obama is Prez. Read the rules!
This should be done, of course, but running on it when it will likely turn out to be impossible to do with Obama in office may not be the best approach. The economy is the main issue, so the Republicans should have plenty of fodder (and video) to use against the Dems in the fall. One simple ad would be to point out that the Dems took over Congress in '06, and to ask Americans if they are better off in '10. The only ones that will repond "yes" are the moochers in society that don't work for a living, anyway.
This is the fight of the century, and it is for the whole thing. Everything is at stake.
Our only strategy must be complete repudiation and repeal. To start going after individual clauses is to accept the enemy’s logic. From that day forward, the constitution is whatever the majority say it is which is the end of constitutionalism.
There will still be a GOP, but they’ll be reduced to implementing the Dem agenda on a tighter budget. Our beloved GOP candidates will stand up in debates and swear they can administer socialism better than the socialists can do it, which we probably can, but its the end of America as we know it.
There are two more battles coming. Carbon control, which is the control of every aspect of human endeavor from industry right down to breathing, and immigration reform.
Once we’ve lost these three battles, its game over. Again, there will still be a GOP, trying to administer socialism on a discount. But America as we received her from our grandparents, a mere memory erased from our high school textbooks. Your grandkids won’t even know it ever was.
This keeps the issue in the public eye and plus we can then get candidates to pledge to support the effort to repeal healthcare in Nov. This is a good tactic.
We get a majority and then use the power of the subpeona to route out Obamas corruption and then impeach and remove him.
If nothing else, this episode has brought some new names to the forefront. It is probably more accurate to say the names may not be new, but they are gaining more national recognition.
My biggest fear is if and when we regain the majority in the House and Senate ‘Let’s be nice’ rears it’s ugly, wicked head once again.

I agree. Of course it has no chance in this congress, but it does help keep the public focused on the issue, and that can only help enhance the inevitable Republican gains in November--perhaps as far as to take back both the House and Senate.
It should be a campaign theme for every Republican running for office this year: repeal Obamacare.

We couldnt even convict Bill Clinton on impeachment. Takes 67 votes in Senate. Impeachment wouldnt repeal health care either. Elections have consequences. It will be a long hard battle and the GOP is already saying parts of the bill are good and they want to keep. I just saw a conservative GOP congressman saying just that on tv.
