For a head of state to visit the White House and not pose for photographers is rare. For a key ally to be left to his own devices while the President withdraws to have dinner in private was, until this week, unheard of.
Yet that is how Binyamin Netanyahu was treated by President Obama on Tuesday night, according to Israeli reports on a trip seen in Jerusalem tonight as a disastrous humiliation.
After failing to extract a written promise of concessions on Jewish settlements, Mr Obama walked out of his meeting with Mr Netanyahu but invited him to stay at the White House, consult with advisors and “let me know if there is anything new”, a US congressman who spoke to the Prime Minister said today.
“It was awful,” the congressman said. One Israeli newspaper called the meeting “a hazing in stages”, poisoned by such mistrust that the Israeli delegation eventually left rather than risk being eavesdropped on a White House phone line. Another said that the Prime Minister had received “the treatment reserved for the President of Equatorial Guinea”.

Israeli regional intel is huge. They could be extremely helpful to anyone operating in their corner of the world without otherwise lifting a finger.
Plus: They are on the Winning Side. (Don't ask me how I know this...it's a secret).
My first reaction was that Obama spends plenty of time schmoozing with Jewish Democrat congressmen, not to mention some of his top advisers in the White House. Many of them are not what I would think of as observant or faithful Jews, any more than most Catholic Democrat politicians are real Catholics in more than name only.
But they are Jews, nonetheless, because Jewishness is racial as well as religious.
Then I suddenly wonder, does Obama sit down and eat with any of them? I really don't know. The news media have been excluded from virtually all of his White House parties, and I don't recall seeing any photos of Obama dining with Jews. Of course, I may easily have missed something.
So, I wonder. Has anyone seen him actually playing with Bo the dog? Has anyone seen him eating with a Jew? I suppose he could do it very occasionally, and then get ritually cleansed or something. For instance, he was photographed with Bo when the dog first arrived, but I haven't seen much of him with Bo since. Maybe he wiped himself off with sand afterward, or whatever Mohammedans have to do to remove uncleanness.
Of course, needless to say, we don't have a "daily dose" of Obama photos here--mostly just ones where he embarrasses himself in one way or another.

At this point, Schuschnigg was ushered back in to see Hitler. "You will either sign it as it is and fulfill my demands within three days, or I will order the march into Austria," Hitler told him.
Schuschnigg gave in and agreed to sign, but informed Hitler that under Austrian law only the country's president could ratify such a document and carry out the terms.
"You have to guarantee it!!" Hitler exploded. But Schuschnigg said he simply could not. Hitler then rushed to the doorway and hollered out for General Keitel. Then he turned to Schuschnigg and abruptly dismissed him. Schuschnigg was taken to a waiting room, left to ponder what Hitler was saying to Keitel.
Schuschnigg didn't know he had just been the victim of an outright bluff. When Keitel arrived to ask for orders, a grinning Hitler told him: "There are no orders. I just wanted to have you here."
A half hour later, Schuschnigg was ushered back in to see Hitler. He was given three days to take the agreement back to Austria and get it signed by the president, or else.
