Look up instead of looking down. You’ll see it way up there on the right. News/Activism. Yes, God is here too.

I am not afraid to stand at Mr. Beck's side, against those who wish to do our country harm.

Me, too; but MORMON theology is NOT Christian.

Who is to say that Glenn Beck, or anyone else for that matter, has not done so?

Christians are called to judge the theology of those who claim to be part of the Body of Christ, that is biblical. And LDS theology is opposed to the Bible.

The LDS leadership. They preach against a personal relationship with Christ.

What you believe about Christ DOES matter and the LDS believe in a VERY VERY different Christ.

Please see my tagline.

On the Religion Forum guidelines which are posted to my profile page, I remark that when one person in a sidebar is warned - all participants should consider themselves warned.

The principle is that two wrongs don't make a right.

My bad, I was sure this was posted under religion which is why I pinged you. But it was pointed out that it is under News/Activism even though it has become a religion thread as it were.

It was my mistake in pinging you. I apologize greatly and will triple check next time.

Kindly provide chapter and verse.

Interesting tagline. I see that Glenn Beck is not the only who likes "Amazing Grace."

So, your path to Christianity went through Mormonism.

I hope that path also includes forgiveness. I've seen a lot of bitterness toward Mormonism in your FR posts. Whatever they did to you, try to get beyond it. It might not be easy, but you are not fully free until you can "let it go." God bless.

They lied to me in order to get me to join the LDS church. NO church should do that. I was told one set of doctrines before I joined and found out an entirely different (and disturbing) set of doctrines after I was a member and then even more after I went to the temple.

They lied to me about their history as well. And it isn’t just me, they do it to all their members and investigators.

I don’t take kindly to being lied to, especially by my church and spiritual advisors. I have been called to warn others about their church lying to them and false doctrines.

Say you bought a car from a dealer, the dealer promises you that the car is new, in perfect condition, never been in an accident, all checked out, full warranty. You pay A LOT of money for this car.
Shortly after buying the car, it breaks down, the engine is shot, the fluid leaks, the radio quits working, and the transmission slips. You go back to the dealer and he just shrugs and says “it’s your problem now”. You do research and found out the car was totaled. There is no warranty and nothing you can do to get your money back.
How would you feel? Would you warn others about this crooked dealer? Of course.
That is all we are doing. We are warning others about the LDS church.

God has healed me of my bitterness, but that does not relieve me of my duty to combat false doctrine.

2 Corinthians 11:12-13

12. And I will keep on doing what I am doing in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things they boast about.

13. For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ.

Romans 16:17
I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.

2 Thessalonians 3:6
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.

1 Timothy 1:3-4
3. As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer

1 Timothy 1:7
They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.

1 Timothy 4:1-2
1. The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
2. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

1 Timothy 4:6
If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed.

1 Timothy 6:3-5
3. If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching,
4. he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions

2 Timothy 1:13
What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
16. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

Titus 1:11
They must be silenced, because they are ruining whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain.

Titus 2:1
You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine.

Titus 2:15
These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.

Hebrews 13:9
Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings.

2 Peter 2:1-3
1. But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.
2. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
3. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

2 John 1:10
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him.

Luke 12:57
“Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right?

Acts 4:19
But Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God.

1 Corinthians 5:12
What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?

1 Corinthians 6:1-4
1. If any of you has a dispute with another, dare he take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the saints?
2. Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?
3. Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!
4. Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, appoint as judges even men of little account in the church!

1 Corinthians 11:13
Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?

Totally agree. Churches have been lying to people for ages, but that doesn’t make it right. I have yet to meet a pastor who doesn't claim to know things that he really doesn’t.

Religion is a personal discovery process. Beware of those who would deceive you--there are plenty of them in "Christianity" as well as in Mormonism.

Thanks for the scriptures, by the way. I will study them carefully and draw my own conclusions.

I have met several pastors that do not fit your description.

And I know there are deceptions and heretics in mainstream Christianity, they are not Christians either.

And it is NEVER about “Religion”, that is a mistake too many people make. It is about Christ, a relationship (inward faith), not religion (outward acts).

I am very aware of deceptions and test everything against the Bible. I was suckered once (by the Mormons when I was 16) it WILL NOT happen again.

Faith is personal but not subjective. It is very easy to fall into the trap of ‘all roads lead to God’, that is simply not true.

My experience is in Mormonism so that is what I fight. I am wondering why you put the term Christianity in quotes.

May I ask your religion, if you have one?

Again, who is the arbiter on this?
"Christianity" is very hard to define, hence the quotes. Some call themselves Christian but haven't given much thought to what they actually believe. Others just believe whatever an authority figure has told them to. Then there is the whole thing about "walking the walk." Is a person who doesn't act like a "Christian," really one?

I prefer to not draw lines. I don't think Jesus did. He loved everyone, regardless of whether they loved Him.

I consider myself a free-thinking Christian. I enjoy learning from many sources, and don't like dogmatism. I have found that people who "insist" that their own beliefs are the only valid ones, are usually wrong.

On Palm Sunday, I visited a cathedral in the DC area. Beautiful service, but I can't say I agreed with everything the speaker had to say.

I chuckle at some of the things my Mormon friends tell me, but don't think religion (dictionary.com definition: a set of beliefs) is worth fighting over.

Gotta go for now. 's been nice chatting with you.

Yes a Christian who doesn’t act like one can really be one. The Bible is very clear on what a Christian is, and it is based upon theology (beliefs), not political views. Those who place their faith in Jesus Christ ALONE, not works for Salvation, the Christ of the Bible, are Christians. Period.

Jesus DID draw lines, He was specific and He did judge and condemn others.

After I left the Mormon Church, my first degree was in Biblical Studies, specifically so I knew what I believed and why and I knew what the Bible taught. I agree that believers should not follow blindly which is part of why I confront the LDS who follow blindly more often than Christians do.

“Free thinking Christian”, that explains much, it is also a path that tends to lead to false doctrines and ‘oprah Christianity’ or lukewarm Christianity. Most ‘free thinking Christians’ I know personally really aren’t either.

And it was nice talking to you as well.

von Stroheim was brilliant, but crazy. He played the butler of Gloria Swanson in “Sunset Blvd.”

My all-time favorite movie, followed closely by "All About Eve."
They had FACES then.
