TITLE: "Surprise Obama Afghan Visit: To Recover Centrifugal Force for Failing Administration" (My Translation)

"アフガン電撃訪問、米政権求心力回復狙う "

By Yomiuri Reporter Etsunari Kurose, stationed in Washinton DC for this major Japanese newspaper)

Upshot: (exerpts from my summary English translation w/ content interpretation)

--Obama-san has gone off to Afghanistan suddenly, on the 28th, but the main reason for this is to tactically shift quickly from his sinking fate as a result of the recent Healthcare Vote in the US Congress, which has brought out serious worries in his internal camp regarding his political viability.

--It is the first trip he has made to Afghanistan after being sworn in.

--It is an effort by Mr. Obama to suddenly shift the focus and issues to Foreign Affairs and away from Domestic U.S. Affairs. due to the aftermath of the recent unpopular House vote in favor of the new Healthcare Plan." ....(snip).

Article goes on for several more paragraphs.

It is despicable how he runs and uses the troops whenever he starts to slip in the polls. He did it in Korea and Anchorage, Alaska, now he is using our frontline troops in Afghanistan for cover in the merciless political pummeling he is getting over Stalinist Health Care For All.

The troops are well aware that he is using them. You can see the disdain and lack of respect in the photos that used to be published before he started staging his appearances with a few hand-picked, sympathetic troops.

“Etsunari” is not a very common Japanese first name, and it could be a “she” perhaps...yes, I had the same thought while writing the post - probably should have added "or her" - but my innate resistance to anything appearing blatantly PC won out.....

Probably for certain now, “Etsunari” is male. Of course “Etsuko” (outside of Shinjuku Ni-chome) would be a female.

Thanks Jim.

Bloggers and international news consolidators (in the conservativesphere) who are picking up this Yomiuri story processed into English, are apparanly knocking off the re-packaging of it as their own work and research, and giving credit where credit is due, i.e. to Free Republic (and some of our enterprising citizen journalists/translators). ;-)
