If this is true and continues...Public opinion is going to turn anti-capitalist pretty quick.

This type of news is what will give the socialists lots of ammo for more "reform." And that will be a winning issue. A lot of people out there are struggling to find jobs and pay the bills. Yet companies are sitting on $1.6 trillion and none of them are hiring? Not good.

I think you worry too much. This country is in revolt because they are tired of the war on their employers and businesses! It’s not a winning issue for the dems. It makes them look short sighted and communistic. I am glad companies are ‘hording’ cash. It means that as soon as we get rid of the democarts in November....they will start spending, hiring and investing. They are ‘hording cash’ because of Obama and the dems policies and they don’t know what’s coming down the commie path next. This ‘issue’ can easily be turned around on the dems...lol!

Yes, blame the evil corporations for the high unemployment rate. The Democrats in charge are just victims.

Maybe companies are doing what the rest us are doing; hunkering down not spending a dime waiting for the communist in the WH to leave.

It’s the companies’ money. They are not in business to employ people, but rather to make a product or service that consumers want to purchase. The employment part comes when companies have more business and need more employees to meet their prior commitments.

More business=more employees. See how that works?

Yeah, we should MAKE those companies create jobs. With healthcare. And childcare. And retirement plans. And a free car. /s/

“If this is true and continues...Public opinion is going to turn anti-capitalist pretty quick. “

I’m afraid you are right. While I agree with capitalism and a corporation can do what it wants with it’s money, people are getting desperate out here and the capitalists are going to find the voting public is going to be more open to socialist policies.

You can be idealistic and have a political philosophy all day, but at the end of that day, you will make sure your family has a home.

“In either case, that does not bode well for job creation. In fact, mergers lead to job reductions unfortunately.””
They know new employees are going to cost too much under the current regime.

“Yet companies are sitting on $1.6 trillion and none of them are hiring? Not good.”

Are you surprised?

Wow. If anyone thought maybe “journalists” had at least some connection to reality and possibly knew at least basic, rudimentary economics, well now we know better.

What idiots.

Companies slashed their work forces and now find that they could function far more resourcefully than they ever realized possible

Isn't that the point?

Who wants to spend cash in such an uncertain economic environment as we have now? The government stooges created this, but will blame business for the situation they (the government) created.

"Companies should absolutely spend some of that money to put people back to work," Byrnes said by telephone earlier this week, clearly frustrated. "I suppose they need to make shareholders happy, but come on already."

What an idiot. The goal of business isn't to create employment, that is a byproduct of a business. Liberals have absolutely no grasp on how economics and business works. America can no longer afford to allow democrats to run the government.

Why? That cash belongs to the shareholders, and they're entitled to do with it as they please - including distributing it out as a dividend and spending the money on steak dinners.

Maybe you shouldn't have voted for all that Hope and Change, 'cause now you don't have a Hope that unemployment will Change until the fascists, formerly the democrats, are removed from power.
