NEW ORLEANS -- Any Republican in the hotel ballroom who hadn't heard Liz Cheney speak before likely walked away impressed. In a nearly 30-minute speech, the former vice president's daughter laid into the Obama administration over health care, foreign policy and national security, concluding that the country simply deserves better.
"2010 and 2012 are going to be critical years in the long history of this great republic, and we have to make our voices heard," said Cheney. "We have to stand up and fight."
Cheney called the health care reform bill "one of the most arrogant power plays in American history." On national security, she said "someone needs to keep reminding this president that foreign terrorists do not have constitutional rights."
She called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's reception in Washington two weeks ago "disgraceful," and said President Obama doesn't understand that "the world is safer when there is no daylight between the United States and the state of Israel."

Why is it that the ONLY REAL LEADERS that I can see in the Republican party are WOMEN?
Not that having women in leadership is a problem, but, as Denny Kenaston would say, “WHERE ARE THE MEN?”
Other than that, I could support Liz Cheney, Michelle Bachman, or Sarah Palin as president/vice-president, not necessarily in that order, and in any combination.
Anybody for Cheney/Bachmann in 2012?
(See: Women's liberation movement)
Assertive, confident women are praised; assertive, confident men are attacked and feared. (Speaking about our society in general, post-women's-lib...)
After decades of boys and men being pushed toward passivity, what else do we expect?
Who is Denny Kenaston?:-)
The men are busy working hard, holding down the fort, etc. Mike Pence is vocal on his Facebook page, has held pressers and I’m looking forward to HIS speech at the conference too.
I’m looking at this gender-wise but in terms of leadership skills.
insert “not” between “I’m” and “looking”...
> Who is Denny Kenaston?:-)
Check him out.
If you want to raise a Godly family, Denny has the best vision that I’ve heard.
Guess you have already forgotten Ryan. What a shame.
“Why is it that the ONLY REAL LEADERS that I can see in the Republican party are WOMEN?”
Hmmm, I sense a bumper sticker -
“Our women have more b*lls than the entire set of democratic (er, communist) party males.”
Is there a video of her speech?
I sure wish she was the RNC Chairman and not Steele .
I am searching. In the meantime, here are the “hottest quotes” from the SRLC:
“Iran watches as this administration answers their threats with weakness, confusion and self serving lectures that put down America and diminishes our achievements. Now that kind of talk could win you a Nobel Prize.” — Liz Cheney
“When you speak from the heart, you dont need a teleprompter.” — Newt Gingrich
“Attorney General Holder says that the lawyers who represent the detainees are patriots because they are representing the unpopular well for the record unpopular is not the word Americans would use to describe terrorists attempting to attack this nation” Liz Cheney
“Congressman Waxman, being an egocentric centralized figure of political power beyond the reach of normal humility ” — Newt Gingrich
“The president or his team dont respond well to challenge or correction. Well here is a piece of news for them, 2010 is going to be a year of challenge and its going to end in a major correction.” — Liz Cheney
“The longer Obama talked, the less the American people believed him.” — Newt Gingrich on healthcare
“Edward Kennedys seat was captured by a Republican who was opposed to Obamacare. How can you get a better signal?” — Newt Gingrich
“Some might think that George Bush had his shortcomings, but let me tell you historys going to be kind to George W. Bush.” — J.C. Watts
“Weve got a generation of Americans that [dont] remember when blackberry was a fruit.” — J.C. Watts
Quote: “I was unable to get the entire Liz Cheney speech due to technical difficulties that CSPAN was having. But here is the best part:”
The GOP women and Paul Ryan. Maybe Eric Cantor, Mike Pence and Jim DeMint. Don’t hear much from my Senators Sessions and Shelby these days, just crickets. They need to stand up and start calling this administration out . . . All of ‘em.
Cool! Leadership through superior genes??
Is she, will she, be running for public office anywhere?
I have no idea but heard a rumor she might seek a Senate seat (forgot which one): Woo Hoo!!
Are you on the wrong thread?
This one is about Liz Cheney.
Here is the whole speech:
Sessions is wonderful. He’s been a hero many times. It is time for the next generation to step forward though, imo, and I think that is what is happening.
I noticed too we haven’t heard from Jeff in a while... hope he’s okay.
Here is the link to all the speechs Day 1 (2 hrs.):
Don’t even really know where she is from and where she might seek election.
I believe Mary is the daughter who worked for Coors. Liz earned her undergrad in Colorado. That state would be favorable for Liz to take a run at the Senate.
I found this great quote from Mary:
Cheney’s sister Mary Cheney is quoted as saying, “I think you’d be hard-pressed to find any daylight at all between Liz’s and my father’s views. It’s not because she’s been indoctrinated. It’s because he’s right.”
Well two by Liz. Sorry.
That shows you how quickly I forget. How embarassing.
I see what you were doing, adding a Hot Quote...
That’s beautiful. I like it!
Messages is confused.
We want our country back. We deserve better, yada, yada.
All they need is one word for their campaigns - FREEDOM!
Freedom should be the chant at every tea party!
I thought I was alone supporting Cheney.
CB would be a solid ticket.
Cheney has the intellectual horsepower and in particluar the gravitas that has missing on the right. Too many charactatures (sp) on right.
Palin more suited to RNC and could bring in dollars.
#1 - No, you are not alone.
#2 - caricatures:-)
#3 - And I agree...
I saw him on with maybe Greta the other day or ? on Fox. So he seems ok, just quiet lately.
How about use the genes God gave you and behave as men?
Liz Cheney = Leia Organa???
“insert ‘not’ between ‘Im’ and ‘looking’...”
OK! I won’t look, LOL!
I knew what you meant. It totally AMAZES me how so FEW in our party are LEADERS. And the women probably stand out because the retards (yes, I meant to say that!) in the media think Conservative women are so weird that they can’t look away, LOL!
Good Golly! It’s not that hard! I do it every day. Plan the work, then work the plan. Granted, it’s just a little shop in a little town, but when I leave a ‘To-Do’ list for my employees on the few days I’m not there, they crawl over one another to be the first to DO SOMETHING and to cross it off the list!
People CRAVE direction and they desire being part of something bigger than themselves. Ask President Reagan!
Lead. Follow. Or get OUT of the way!
Wow, what a team!
