Israel warns Syria over Hezbollah attacks

Israel has delivered a secret warning to Syrian President Bashar Assad that it will respond to missile attacks from Hezbollah, the militant Lebanese-based Islamist group, by launching immediate retaliation against Syria itself.

In a message, sent earlier this month, Israel made it clear that it now regards Hezbollah as a division of the Syrian army and that reprisals against Syria will be fast and devastating.

It follows the discovery by Israeli intelligence that Syria has recently supplied long-range ballistic missiles and advanced anti-aircraft systems to Hezbollah.

“We’ll return Syria to the Stone Age by crippling its power stations, ports, fuel storage and every bit of strategic infrastructure if Hezbollah dare to launch ballistic missiles against us,” said an Israeli minister, who who was speaking off-the-record, last week.

The warning, which was conveyed to Damascus by a third party, was sent to reinforce an earlier signal by Avigdor Lieberman, the Israeli foreign minister. “If a war breaks out the Assad dynasty will lose its power and will cease to reign in Syria,” he said earlier this year.

The Israeli decision to hold Syria directly responsible for Hezbollah’s actions is believed to be the result of intelligence assessments that Beirut has lost control of the Shi’ite organisation, which has become an increasingly powerful force in Lebanon.

Reports that Syria has supplied Hezbollah with Russian-made Scud ballistic missiles have alarmed Israeli ministers. The missiles have the potential to reach the entire country and could carry chemical warheads. New gas masks are being supplied to Israel’s entire population, with an intensive television advertising campaign underway to stress their importance.

I think the warning is for real. Israel would much prefer to see the missiles withdrawn than to have to fight a regional war with only token support from the U.S. They also want third-party pressure against Syria to back off.

What I like about the Israelis is that if they see a connection, they identify it aloud and then act on it. That’s sanity in action.

Over here, we bury our collective heads in the sand and recite platitudes. Something we learned from the Canadian authorities, maybe.

Don't forget to also destroy bridges, electric distribution, communications, television, highways, roads, airports, air fields, banks, railroads, and of course dams.

A wonderful book to read is “AS AMERICA HAS DONE TO ISRAEL, BY John P McTernan”

After reading this book, I no longer fear what will happen to Israel, it is too bad that America is not standing with Israel, especially with the curreent President we have, appaently he has not read the Holy Bible, so he would prefer to stand with Muslim terrorist than stand with Israel

That must have been fascinating and harrowing at the same time. Were you traveling in the area and just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Oh! OK. I agree that there will be more fighting and that Hezzbollah and the Syrians are going join each other against Israel.

I am disgusted when I hear about the never ending efforts to destroy Israel by Syria, Iran and other Muslim states in the middle-east.Israel has never known a moment of peace. Their situation has always been complicated because of the silliness of American administrations that have attempted to bring about a two-state peace agreement between Israel and the Muslims who are determined to destroy it.

I doubt Syria’s preparations will be sufficient to deter the Israelis from their objectives. The IDF is one of, if not THE best, trained militaries in the world. Also the Israelis are fighting for survival which gives them even more of an edge.

Here is another great example of America “complicating” the issues in that part of the world. Washington/Obama would rather bury their head in the sand than deal with the realities on the ground. What is Odumdum looking for, a photograph of camoflauge clad Hezbollah operatives fueling a SCUD in launch position on a TEL next to a street sign that reads “Bekka Valley”.

Gates is right when he says Obama doesn’t have a plan for dealing with Iran’s nuke problem, but he may have well have said Obama doesn’t have a plan for dealing with any foreign policy crisis. This man has a dangerous domestic policy and NO foriegn policy.

U.S. Officials: It is Unclear if Syria Transferred Scuds to Hizbullah but ‘Intent is There’

April 18, 2010

Washington believes there is a Syrian “intent” to transfer Scud missiles to Hizbullah but there are doubts about whether the Scuds were delivered to the Shiite group, U.S. officials have said.
“We think the intent is there,” a senior U.S. official said.

But the official and two others briefed on the case said it was unclear whether the missiles were actually handed over in full to the Lebanese party.

“We believe a transfer of some kind occurred but it is unclear if the rockets themselves have changed hands,” the senior official said.
Another U.S. official said doubts were growing that Damascus had delivered the Scuds in full: “We don’t believe it happened.”
A third U.S. official also said it was “unclear … that a transfer has occurred ... and the United States has no indications that the rockets have moved across the border.”

Israeli President Shimon Peres has accused Damascus of providing Hizbullah with the missiles, prompting Washington to officially warn that the transfer “potentially puts Lebanon at significant risk.”

Syria also warned that Israel was paving the way for new military action through its allegations.
The allegation comes at a sensitive time in U.S.-Syrian relations. Washington has reached out to Syria in recent months by nominating the first U.S. ambassador to Damascus since 2005 and sending top diplomats to meet with President Bashar Assad.

Well, Damascus, is mentioned in Scripture for a reason. The Syrians do not know who they are messing with. Israel is not alone, although the world believes it is. Something the US Administration better wake up to.

<< Isaiah 17 >>
King James Bible
1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.

Sorry to sound a bit on the cynical side, but judging from the present state of countries controlled by the you-know-whos, "returning them to the stone age" shouldn't be TOO difficult!

And don’t forget there is a Mighty Archangel by the name of Michael over there. The world has forgotten so much. If they ever knew anything of the LORD to start with.

<< Daniel 12 >>
King James Bible
1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. 2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. 4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

What will we do if Obama declares war on Isreal? Even the Bush administration demanded that Israel stand down in the war against Hezbollah.

Israel has delivered a secret warning to Syrian President Bashar Assad

Well, I guess not. Doesn't seem to be so secret, now does it?
