The Tea Party: Populism of the privileged (Wa-Poo Libtard Vile Rant Double Bag Barf Alert)
Washington comPost ^ | April 19, 2010 | E.J. Dionne Jr.

The Tea Party is nothing new. It represents a relatively small minority of Americans on the right end of politics, and it will not determine the outcome of the 2010 elections.

In fact, both major parties stand to lose if they accept the laughable notion that this media-created protest movement is the voice of true populism. Democrats will spend their time chasing votes they will never win. Republicans will turn their party into an angry and narrow redoubt with no hope of building a durable majority.

The news media's incessant focus on the Tea Party is creating a badly distorted picture of what most Americans think and is warping our policy debates. The New York Times and CBS News thus performed a public service last week with a careful study of just who is in the Tea Party movement.

Their findings suggest that the Tea Party is essentially the reappearance of an old anti-government far right that has always been with us and accounts for about one-fifth of the country. The Times reported that Tea Party supporters "tend to be Republican, white, male, married and older than 45." They are also more affluent and better educated than Americans as a whole. This is the populism of the privileged.

And the poll suggested something that white Americans are reluctant to discuss: Part of the anger at President Obama among Tea Partiers does appear to be driven by racial concerns.

Saying this invites immediate denunciations from defenders of those who bring guns to rallies, threaten violence to "take our country back," and mouth old slogans about states' rights and the Confederacy. So let's be clear: Opposition to the president is driven by many factors that have nothing to do with race. But race is definitely part of what's going on.

Media created? What media? The Tea Party movement is an archetypal grass-roots effort. The media has done its best to demonize and marginalize it. Witness this article!

Hey, that's nothing. If Bummer-boy gets his way, you'll spend the rest of your life in a chain gang with an idiot-stick in your hand, white boy, down in the ditch whackin' those weeds ....

He'd call that social justice!

I’m a very “privileged” yank who makes $10,000 a year. I guess I’m rich compared to leftists who don’t even friggin WORK!

Elitist fear mongering.

This wispy, leather-elbowed tweed wearing, Channel 13 tote bag carrying, east coast, monied, nitwit just called me a priviledged elitist!

That's awesome, in a way.

When all else fails, pull out the race card. To prove my point, they even tried to make Clinton the first black president so they could use it!

The real problem isn't racism against Oboma. It's Obomas racism against whites. What has Oboma done FOR the working white middle class? He's enslaved them.

The Tea Party: Populism of the privileged

Take a look at the careers of the leaders of the (First) American Revolution. In general they were not poor people. A lot of lawyers, gentlemen farmers and other businessmen. They could have continued comfortable lives living under the status quo, but instead they decided to risk, and in many cases lose, it all for their freedom.

If anything he should be more scared than ever when the middle and upper middle class take to the streets. They have a lot better things to do with their time, but when they decide to give that up to fight the government then things are changing in a hurry.

“Privileged” to a leftist is being rewarded for hard work.

Since most wealthy liberals did NOT have to work hard for the wealth they have (or else they’d not be liberals),

they seem to assume that anyone else that is wealthy got theirs easily as well.

There is no sweat on a wealthy lib’s money.

There’s a certain work of fiction that is not mentionable on Free Republic that people should check out...

that is, if you’re mature enough to filter out the disgusting bigotry of the protagonist and focus on what the government is doing in the storyline.

The mods don’t think you are, so it’s not mentionable.

And his racism is cloaked in the guise of ANTI-racism.

“All whites (who oppose me) are racist, therefore it’s OK to persecute them.”

"Racist fail, red necks fail, privileged that’s the ticket let’s see if that will fly."

The TEA party turns out to be nonviolent, and educated about their country and don't wear disgusting torn offensive rags to social events..so now they change the stereotype to "privileged".

Does that mean they are accusing the poor of being violent or saying that they can't be well educated and moral with a few decent clothes in their closet? How offensive.
