A serial rapist who strangled a 16-year-old girl in 1988 and who had argued he might be violently allergic to the state's execution drug was put to death Tuesday with no apparent complications.
As the lethal injection began, Darryl Durr clenched his fists, grimaced and held his head up for about 10 seconds before gently putting it down. It wasn't clear if he was in pain or emotionally reacting to the moment.
Durr, 46, was pronounced dead at 10:36 a.m. at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville.
"He was a monster," the victim's mother, Norma Jean Godsey, said after witnessing the execution.
Durr kidnapped 16-year-old Angel Vincent from her home in Elyria on Jan. 31, 1988, while her mother and stepfather were away at a Super Bowl party, prosecutors said. He raped and strangled her with a dog chain and hid her body inside two orange traffic barrels placed end-to-end in a Cleveland park.

I hope they swabbed the injection site with alcohol. It’d be a shame if he got a nasty infection.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. The story reminded me of the condemned man who looked at a rickety scaffold and asked if it was safe.

argued he might be violently allergic to the state's execution drug He may be right. It sounds like he had a fatal drug reaction to me.

We can only hope he felt something similar to what his victim felt.

Just wondering if he died as a result of the pharmaceuticals administered or an adverse reaction to the pharmaceuticals administered. I mean, did he break out in hives before being pronounced dead? Did he complain of shortness of breath...chest pains, ringing in the ears?

“Twenty two years “
It’s disgusting, and embarrassing.
To: mdittmar
Looks to me like he suffered a fatal reaction to the execution cocktail.
Which was kinda the point. But we have execution methods way too kind for what these monsters do. Start drawing and quartering in the public square and the murder/rape rate would plummet.
To: OB1kNOb
LMAO! I was thinking the same thing.
Hey Darryl, thiopental sodium in a hefty dose holds a lethal ‘allergic’ reaction for all of us: it’s spelled D-E-A-T-H.

The death penalty is supposed to be a deterent for crime.
And let's not forget HARD MANUAL labor while you await your execution.

Allergic? Haha. It is intended to kill you — we’re all “allergic”. When death is the intended effect ... how can you tell you’re allergic?

Thanks ... been all over Google, Bing and Dogpile but nothing. There was a Facebook for her but just a few relatives. It appears the girl was white too. I feel that the murdered should be shown rather than the creeps who do murder ...it’s the bleeding heart liberal media types that show the poor condemned ....

I think firing squads are best. They use a group of men, so just one man isn’t in charge. I think it sort of messes up a sole executioner, particularly over time.
