Five or more pirate suspects are being brought to the United States for prosecution, a federal law enforcement official said Tuesday.
The suspects will arrive in the United States by the end of the week, The official told The Associated Press. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the transfer is still under way.
U.S. officials had said last week that as many as 20 suspected pirates held on U.S. ships off the coast of Somalia might soon be headed to the U.S. for prosecution.
The government's decision to bring the suspected pirates to the United States comes amid heated debate among U.S. and other international agencies over where piracy suspects should be sent for trial. Earlier this month Kenya began refusing to take piracy suspects, saying the trials were straining its courts.

Piracy is a death sentence crime. It’s an act of war by a non-uniformed combatant. Therefore they have no rights under the geneva convention and should be shot at the scene of the attack.
These guys don’t need a trial. They need a bullet.
Heads on pikes back on the beaches of Somalia would be a nice final touch.
You really have to wonder how far this sort of thing will go. In a sense its a crime against commerce and not worthy of the millions of taxpayer dollars. Our responsibility should end with reasonable protection of shipping lanes.

It's a fairly long video but it offers insight to the whole " law enforcement " approach and the problems associated with it.
These trials will be a joke and I expect one or more of these guys will get acquitted on some technicality and be sent home with new suits and pocket money to a heroes welcome in Somalia. I wouldn’t even be surprised if these pirates would get bail and be walking our streets courtesy of the ACLU and liberal donors.
Sure would have saved a lot of trouble and money if they had just been shot. Bullets are cheaper than lawyers.
I’d rather hang them on shore in Somalia. No trial, just take them in and hang them at the docks. A little of that and there’d be a marked decrease in piracy.

Pirates being brought here for prosecution? Isn’t it standard procedure for pirates to receive “justice” on the spot?
