“the Mexican government condemns the approval of the law” and “the criminalization of migration, far from contributing to collaboration and cooperation between Mexico and the state of Arizona, represents an obstacle to solving the shared problems of the border region.” - Source Associated Press.

Associated Press writers Paul Davenport in Phoenix and Mark Stevenson in Mexico City contributed to this report.

SCREW THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENT!!!! Those hypocritical bastar$s would arrest me in a second if they caught me there without a valid tourist or work visa.

Mexico is like a spoiled child who kicks and screams if they don’t get their way. There is only ONE way to deal with that.

TOUGH LOVE. So tough $hit Mexico......

Even if it was a “stop and surrender your papers” law - what are they bitchin’ about? They were talking about a national ID card just a few weeks ago!!!

This law by Arizona has the Obama administration running scared because it just might force them to do something about the borders before granting amnesty and that is a trade off that Obama does not want to make. He wants to secure the whole voting block of Hispanics for the Democrats and taking action on the borders won’t help that effort. It’s a conundrum for the Democrats. On one hand he risks losing some of the Hispanic votes, on the other hand he WILL lose more of the votes of US citizens.

Point of order....

The national Id is for identification to obtain something either a right or a privilege as a citizen. Voting, bank account, welfare.

It is not intended to be a permission for passage. The national ID was not to be used to monitor movement. If you were stopped for something, the National ID would be proof you are not illegal.

When citizens don’t have access to the public facilities that their very own money pays for because of the overuse of criminals... at what point do they have a right to say “If you won’t do it, I will?”

DC is strictly vote pandering, these people are trying to survive.

I don’t like the “stop and surrender your papers” aspect of this....

The law doesn't actually allow that. The perp has to be stopped for some other violation, but if he/she is unable to produce valid U.S. identification and doesn't speak a word of english then the cop is required to ask immigration status. If the perp is here illegally he/she will be arrested.

I agree. AZ did the right thing. Hopefully, TX will do the same. As far as NM goes, don’t hold your breath...

Since that time, no less than three Phoenix city police officers have been killed on-duty by illegal immigrants. Most recently, a rancher from the rural southern Arizona town of Douglas was murdered at the hands of an illegal immigrant. Robert Krentz had a reputation of being a “good Samaritan” to illegal immigrants stuck along the roadside while attempting to cross the desert. But that didn’t stop an illegal immigrant from gunning-down Krentz and robbing him, as he tended his own land back on March 30th.

Is the potential for racial profiling really more worrisome than this, coupled with all the other costs that illegal immigration has imposed?

I don't think so. I also think the notion that cops will stop people simple because they look Hispanic is ridiculous.

I would have enjoyed that video if my nerves weren’t racked from the music getting louder and louder, LOL.

I know that’s not your fault and I agree with the message, just couldn’t get past about half of it.

I don’t like the “stop and surrender your papers” aspect of this, but that said, it is certainly Arizona’s right to attempt to do something about what has become a big problem.

The alleged abuse is all BS. My wife appears as "Latina" as it gets and she has never been pulled over, questioned or otherwise approached on the matter of legality. We are right here in Phoenix and it is not an issue.

I should add that we have a large circle of Latino friends here and they’ve never been approached, either. I’ll need to check with some of the folks who live down South and see if they know of any incidents.

Permission for passage? As in permission for passage across the border from one sovereign nation to another? Isn’t identification normally required to cross a border? The intent for a National ID doesn’t matter when the circumstances you yourself listed would require people to carry the card with them at all times. My argument is not in favor of an ID card - my argument is that Democrats didn’t have the slightest problem requiring citizens to carry ID but they have the audacity to bristle when people who have no right to enter our country at all are asked to show ID. It is a smokescreen, if you are legal - show your license or whatever - not a big deal. If you are not legal - go home and stay there.

To me it is simply a matter of National Security.

And the Mayor of Phoenix, one Phil Gordon, has declared that the City of Phoenix will sue the State over this new law.

Oh, it’s no problem! It’s my own deal, no doubt. Of course having five children running around that was cooped up in the house all day yesterday from the storms down here probably has a LOT to do with it, LOL.

What this country needs is 49 other states adopting the Arizona law .

That might awaken those pampered prima-donnas in Washington.
