Laws? What stinkin’ laws? Laws don’t mean anything in this country anymore!

That is absolutely correct.

Until I was naturalized, I HAD TO carry my green card. In fact, it used to be I had to report my address every year. Went to the post office and filled out a postcard, listing my current address.

I don’t get it...if I get stopped by a cop, I can get asked to bust out my ID...for whatever reason...why should an illegal alien be immune from this?

Just make sure this doesn't manifest itself as requiring everyone to carry papers.

Never Again.

I asked my Congresscritter this question once. The look on his face was priceless.

"Why is it that I have to show more ID to buy cold medicine than I do to cast my vote in a Federal election?"

Question and answer period over at that point. And my CC is a Pub.

I don’t even see how hard this is to actually do. Most states require proof of citizenship or residency. Wouldn’t a valid US driver’s license or photo ID card from these states serve as de facto proof of being in the country legally?

You are making a HUGE leap with your intimation.

Oh, how unfair. How can this go on? Why having to carry proof of legal residency is soooo unfair.

Gag...

Good one BTW.

I’m an exercise walker and often the only thing I carry with me are keys and Kleenex.

This will change though, since my son,a police officer, said I should always carry ID in case of an accident.

Because congresscrooks are scared sh**less of being called racists. They should be scared of the people who can legally vote, but the PC crowd has them trained like Pavlov's Dog.

I always carry what now is closer to a pink PR card than a green card. I just checked...I am OK for another few years for my PR card. My driver license expires this year. Thanks for the reminder. :>)

This means it shouldn't be a problem if I don't.

Thing is, to enforce a "members of group X _must_ have ID" pits the crime of some people not having their ID against indistinguishable behavior of the right of others to not have ID. This leads to the legislative solution of requiring EVERYONE to have ID, in which history will repeat by the practical consequence of the ID being the person (no ID = not a legal person), internal passports, control of movement & behavior, subjugation to government, and eventual culmination of an unpopular subgroup being oppressed if not wiped out entirely. I know that's a fast jump in a few words, but history bears out that's what happens.

Upshot: in a nation of free men, mere lack of ID shall not constitute a crime.

I understand the problem, and the desire for demanding ID. It's the wrong solution. The correct solution would be very unpopular in current sociopolitical climate.

I should always carry ID in case of an accident.

That's the key nuance. Possessing ID should benefit YOU, not the state. Lack of ID shall not constitute presumptive evidence of wrongdoing insofar as simply being within our borders.

I have no use for cowards.

DD, better add the following litmus test for Republican green peas.

“Are you afraid to be called a “racist?”

How racist. How Nazi. How atrocious. How despicable. Making immigrants carry identification. Boycott the U.S.
