Video shows federal officials knew quickly of potential for massive oil flow in Gulf spill

It was filmed in Seattle, at NOAA's Western Regional Center, as scientists and federal officials in Seattle, Houston and New Orleans engaged in telephone conferences, according to a companion document on the Web site. The video appears to have been edited, and it was shot by a person carrying a camera from room to room. In it, officials are discussing the search for survivors of the Deepwater Horizon explosion. There is a hand-drawn map of the spill dated April 22. At one point, the video freezes on a sign next to a door that reads, "War Room."

If they knew and did not do anything then where is the media out cry....The investigations...The blame games.

Obama needs to be held to the same standard Bush was... Truly this is Obama's Katrina...but will the leftest environmentalist dare to open their mouths against the One and his administration?

God be with all the creatures (human and otherwise) that will be effected from this.

He is a democrat they have little to no standards when it comes to such situations. They blame others for all of their failings, they can generally act with impunity and suffer minimal consequences. It’s good to be the king.

Somebody said to me that BP downplayed the seriousness of this (someone on here).

Does anyone have proof to the contrary?

At first they were talking about spillage of 1,000 barrels per day, and now they’re talking about 100,000 barrels per day.
It doesn’t make much sense to me. Perhaps BP assumed it would not be so difficult to get the blowout preventer to activate. The thing may have been defective from the beginning, or possibly damaged from the accident.

“Obama needs to be held to the same standard Bush was”

He does but the NPR commentator waslauding howquick the Obama admin responded, but ‘events prevented quicker response’... the media gives Obama all the slack.

That MF wasn’t even going to GO to the gulf at all until he saw how angry the American public is growing by the minute.

I wonder how bad it really is!
I think of who has what to gain by over-reporting or under-reporting the problem. The media is known for whipping us up into a frenzy. They are also protective of his majesty. BP downplayed it. Who knows? I just want it FIXED.

over-reporting likely as it helps environmental anti-drilling narrative. How bad it ends up being depends on how soon they cap it, and its disappointing they havent done so already.

Don't know if BP did or not. However if this had occurred during GW Bush's presidency, the media & demoRATs would have been howling with feigned outrage over the Bush administration not being able to ascertain the seriousness of the situation irregardless of what BP said or did. It would have been all Bush's fault, just like Katrina was all his fault. The difference is that Bush SHOULD have spoken up vigorously and attacked Nagin & Bianca for their ineptitude & lack of action in carrying our their own contingency plan. As much as I hate 0bozo, the first thing he did was to pin the blame back on BP and refuse to take any ownership for his failure to react. The RAT bastard 0bozo gets another pass for his ineptness & colossal failure. What a commie pig!

Stand by for zero, Pelosi, and Reid to initiate a major choke hold on oil companies just as they have the auto industry, financial industry, student loans and health insurance. It’s exactly like Chavez. I figure Al Gore will make a place for himself at the bedpost of this rape. They knew they were losing the global warming battle, but this is almost as good an income as cap ‘n tax would have been.
