Facebook turns on Palin

Former Alaska GOP Gov. Sarah Palin's endorsement of Carly Fiorina in California's Senate race has prompted a fervent blowback on her Facebook page, long Palin's safe haven for delivering her message.

The revolt is coming from Palin supporters who also back Chuck DeVore – a tea party favorite who is campaigning against Fiorina in the Republican primary.

Palin’s Facebook page is littered with comments opposing her endorsement of Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett Packard.

“The only REAL CONSERVATIVE is Chuck DeVore. Fiorina is a RINO and we don't need any more of those in [California],” one irate commenter wrote. “Why wouldn't you back Chuck DeVore???”

“Sorry Sarah but I think Chuck DeVore is the conservative candidate you should be supporting,” added another, who was followed up by a DeVore supporter who wrote: “I don't agree with this endorsement AT ALL! What are you thinking Sarah?”

If the guy was running at 35% now the story would be completely different but he has to almost triple his number of supporters to get to that jumping off point.

The latest survey I saw had Chuck at 14% and Fiorina at 17%. He was picking up and she was dropping. The key number in the survey was that about 40% were undecided. That means they were unaffected by Fiorina’s advertising. The debate was tonight and will air on Sunday. DeVore jumped from 8% to 14% after the last debate. A similar result this time would put him in contention. One thing that Sarah’s endorsement did was get attention to the race and his candidacy.

Thanks. I like Sarah Palin, and I like her more Conservative endorsements, so I appreciate hearing from her defenders when she goes a little "off the reservation" with some of her less-Conservative gestures like this Fiorina endorsement.

I don't even have to fully agree with her defenders, I just want to hear her defenders' side of the arguments -- any mitigating considerations in her favor, what have you.

That’s understandable... Not just who she endorses, but what it show about her Conservatism. If she is going to throw away her ideals for politics - well, welcome to the crowd, we have enough of those...

"I’d like to know the percentage of those who are going on her wall and trashing her about her Fiorina endorsement actually live in California"

What's it matter WHERE they live? Palin is wrong here just like she was wrong endorsing McCain over Hayworth.

How many more RINO endorsements will it take before shes jumped the shark? This isn't real smart on her part at all!

The problem is that Campbell is polling better than Devore and Fiorina against Boxer. In fact, Fiorina is the worst among the three. So if electability is the criterion, the obvious choice is Campbell. Wrong. The election is some way away. DeVore can hardly pull 15% of republican votes in a primary. Ask yourself why, and the answer is that he's doesn't have the political skills to sell himself. He couldn't beat Boxer even if he had a 10% start whatever the polls say about an election in 6 months time.

I thought Palin’s objective was to stop Boxer. Devore polls better against Boxer than Fiorina according to Rasmussen. Isn’t any Rep better than Boxer?

Why should CA voters elect a Republican when they sound just like the Dims ?

People here is CA are actually paying attention this election to fiscally conservative issues because of our $20B budget gap and the constant comparisions on the news between CA and Greece’s government spending problems. So what will this receptive audience hear ? Republicans that sound like Dem-lite. DeVore debating Boxer would have actually showcased that there IS a difference between parties.

Its times like this where I am SO glad that I am NOT a politician. I can’t imagine the kind of pressure, I endorse someone, and some people love it and some people hate it. I’d tear my hair out with the insanity. I mean seriously what is Sarah Palin supposed to do, before she endorses someone go online and get the approval of every single person before she says “Ok I guess its safe now I will endorse this person” screw that..she goes with what her heart tells her is the right thing, is it always the right thing..who the heck knows but you know what, I respect her for having her own opinion and going with her gut.

It is real smart. This is not a McCain “OMG” endorsement, this a Fiorina “smart move” endorsement. Smart for herself, for conservatives, and the country.

The only time Sarah Palin had any affect on how I voted was in November of 2008. I don’t see that trend changing anytime soon.

Maybe you should go back and read some of my other comments. You are so far off base that it is laughable...

Flashback to the March 25 edition of the LA Times: “DeVore said he plans to ask Palin for Palin’s endorsement on Saturday.”

I don’t vote in CA. I am trying to figure out why Palin is supporting a RINO like Fiorina when Devore polls better against Boxer. And Campbell polls the best against Boxer. If the criterion is winning and electability, then logically Palin should be supporting Campbell since ideology is not important for her.

Let's not forget what these elections is about.

It's NOT about who's more is the real conservative, or has the purest ideology.

It about defeating his agenda.

Photobucket

And kicking her from office.

Photobucket

It's about stopping Cap and Trade.

It's about stopping crazy spending.

It's about 2 more Supreme Court Justices.

Remember this guy?

Photobucket

I wasn't happy about maybe 60% of what Brown's positions were but I gave him money and would have voted for him because he was one more Republican which meant Obama couldn't steam roll whatever he wanted.

I'm going to vote for Carly, not because I thinks she's a conservative.

I'm going to give her money, work for her campaign, and vote for her because she can win and will make life difficult for the Obama and his Democrat minions.

“...he is not electable and never was,...”

Care to elaborate ? I know his positions, but not his history. Are there skeletons ? WHY is he not electable ?

She’s trying to stop Campbell. Out of state money is trying to stop him also. As you know, senators are elected for 6 year terms. “President Palin” is trying to build a bullet proof US Senate so she can repeal Obamacare and the rest of Obama’s Marxist legislation. Picking-off Boxer’s seat is no easy task.
