Facebook turns on Palin
Politico ^ | 5/06/10 | Andy Barr

Former Alaska GOP Gov. Sarah Palin's endorsement of Carly Fiorina in California's Senate race has prompted a fervent blowback on her Facebook page, long Palin's safe haven for delivering her message.

The revolt is coming from Palin supporters who also back Chuck DeVore – a tea party favorite who is campaigning against Fiorina in the Republican primary.

Palin’s Facebook page is littered with comments opposing her endorsement of Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett Packard.

“The only REAL CONSERVATIVE is Chuck DeVore. Fiorina is a RINO and we don't need any more of those in [California],” one irate commenter wrote. “Why wouldn't you back Chuck DeVore???”

“Sorry Sarah but I think Chuck DeVore is the conservative candidate you should be supporting,” added another, who was followed up by a DeVore supporter who wrote: “I don't agree with this endorsement AT ALL! What are you thinking Sarah?”

If he ran, I would support him.

“Devore never got traction, and none of us want Tom Campbell to win.”

.
This seems to be the essence of conservative politics in California for the past 20 years or so. For some reaon that I don’t really understand, Christian Conservatives just don’t ever seem to build up any fire in their campaigns.

Its almost as if they expect the fact that they are Christians to carry them through to victory.

“There was no reason for Palin not to endorse DeVore in the primary...and then later endorse the GOP winner in the election.”

.
Wrong, wrong, wrong!

This is a Stop Campbell maneuver, and it is necessary. Without Sarah’s backing Fiorina, Campbell will win, just like when Swarzenegger won. Same kind of politics, and same people pulling the strings.

ahhhhhh, NOT according to the most Accurate pollster in CA since 2000, ie Rasmussen! All you Carlibots look it up, in April DEVORE polled BETTER vs BoxofRocks than Carly and Chuck has an actual RECORD to run on instead of Arnie-like promises... THIS is the year with the Tea Party money and enthusiasm to support the conservative and kill the Boxer campaign which will not be well defended by national Dems since they think they have CA still in their pocket...NOW IS THE TIME if ever...

Fiorina wins the most support of tea party people (not Devore).

This is a primary race, no one faces Boxer unless they defeat the hard left, Tom Campbell first, Devore cannot do that, Fiorina is very close to pulling that off.

Your point of the Boxer match-up while irrelevant, is also laughable, there is not a real difference in any of the match ups against Boxer.

“Coats, Fiorina, McCain?”

.
Not fair pissant!

Fiorina is nothing like Coates 0r McCain. - She has consistently been on the right side of all the big issues. Her biggest fault is her flamboyance and her ego.

Mitch Daniels is no conservative, look at where he is when it comes to social conservatism.

It's all about incrementalism which is what got us into this catastrophic situation to begin with. CA is going to be taken back only in increments; some of these states are too far gone with the mentality of liberalism and will never elect someone that is a staunch conservative (at this time). Their minds are so infected that one word against a conservative such as racist, homophobe, etc sends the voters into a panic. OTOH, someone that displays common sense and helps to ease the populous back into the ‘right’ thinking is electable. Look at Scott Brown's victory in MASS. Clearly he is not a staunch conservative however, he spoke good common sense during his campaign and that appealed to everyone. He was not a threat. There is now a ‘foothold’ in MASS...the door has been cracked back open.
I'm looking for the person that can get the job done. People that are outraged over this clearly don't see what this nation is up against. If we don't gain some ground in Nov (if elections are held) then it is truly all over.

Paul Ryan?

Ryan has "amnesty" problems. I believe he sponsored a couple of smaller amnesties.

Why is his “running” stopping you? You can write in his name. Why won’t you?

The latest survey I saw had Chuck at 14% and Fiorina at 17%. He was picking up and she was dropping.

Wrong, that poll was an outlier as the follow up poll showed, Devore remains at his consistent 20% deficit that he could never overcome and the undecided figure is 23%, not 40.

Fiorina is within the 4 to 7 point range with the money and numbers to defeat Campbell in these closing weeks.

Devore remains at his consistent 20% deficit

Source?

j/k :)

BTW, I think it's important for everybody here to note that Sarah waited until four week before the primary with Devore being 20 point down, before she finally endorsed Fiorina, instead of Devore.

Looks like kabar's "you can't be a little bit pregnant" anology doesn't apply in this case.

Assuming she wins, a huge assumption, when she stabs you in the back, I’ll remind you of the fun.

Putting someone in office who you know you cannot count on when the chips are down is pointless, rather it be the devil you know than the betrayer pretending to be your friend.

Yeah. That’s the point. It doesn’t matter who you vote for, it matters who takes office.

What’s really frustrating is all of these guys who are the conservative versions of Obama voters. They love the fresh new guy without a resume.

Any blot — any tough decision — on the resume and it’s RINO! RINO!

I’ve been tough on some of Palin’s premature endorsements (I still think Rand Paul will come back to bite her) but this is the right one at the right time. DeVore is just playing spoiler at this point. He had a long time to catch up and if it were Fiorina vs. DeVore, then it’d be a different story.

But it isn’t. He will not win and Fiorina is the least-worst option at this point. Remember my tagline:

I am stunned at the level of support that Tom Campbell and Barbara Boxer get here, because we 'know where they stand'.

Amazing.

The pattern here sadly is my way or the highway. Practicality need not apply.

People here are passionate, and sometimes they just listen to the RINO charge and jerk the knee. Sarah has a record of being pretty careful about who to endorse.

The biggest issue apparently is that DeVore has a cloud over his head because he has no paid campaign staff or something like that.. they are all staffers and now he is being investigated. This is a killer. DeVore is toast for the Primary no matter what.. and folks just don't want to see it.
