Remember when the MSM went crazy over [and likely exaggerated] George H.W.'s supposed unfamiliarity with a supermarket scanner? Pres. Obama has now had his supermarket-scanner moment, claiming he doesn't know how to operate an iPod, among other popular electronic devices. Do you think the MSM will pick on this in the same way to paint a portrait of an out-of-touch president?
Addressing the graduating class at Hampton University today, PBO said:
"With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, -- none of which I know how to work -- information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation."

Forget it Mark. Those stunts only work when there’s a Republican president.
They tagged him as the high-tech “Blackberry President” before he even took office. Remember the NEWSWEAK cover “We are all socialists now”??
They DID exaggerate Bush’s scanner experience.
The scanner in question was a new model that could scan a torn bar code in several pieces.
If Obama can’t operate an iPod, why is he giving one to the Queen of England?
But I thought he was our first high tech president!
Personally I don’t believe him ping to Today show list.
PLEASE NOTE: I LOST THE ‘TODAY SHOW’ PING LIST
I managed to erase my updated copy of the ping list today, and am using an old one I had stored. Apologies to those who either no long want to be on it but are, or want to be on it but aren’t! Please notify me of any errors and I’ll be happy to make the changes.
“information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation.”
Look how his mind works. In his mind we are slaves of greedy white males and should spend our time studying marxism and liberationism like HE did.
I don’t know how to operate an I-Pod either. Who cares? There are plenty of substantial issues with The One; why bother with trivial matters?
“Personally I dont believe him”
Neither do I. He is the biggest liar about everything and gets by with it (thanks MSM!)
And he can’t see Russia from Illinois either.
“If Obama cant operate an iPod, why is he giving one to the Queen of England?”
Great point!
Translation: "The truth is getting in the way of my lies."
My six year old daughter has her ipod Nano all figured out save for more esoteric features like setting an alarm clock. Barack harbors a special kind of stupid.
“If Obama cant operate an iPod, why is he giving one to the Queen of England?”
So she can marvel over the brilliant rhetorical flair in his speeches at the touch of a finger. Wasn’t that a thoughtful gift? /sarc
“With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation.”
And, rather inconveniently for Zero, information also becomes available outside the officially sanctioned Pravda talking points. At least until the Fairness Doctrine applies to podcasts!
“My six year old daughter has her ipod Nano all figured out save for more esoteric features like setting an alarm clock.”
Perfect illustration of what I argued in the item: “The little gizmo has been around for 10 years, is virtually ubiquitous, and let’s face it, is intuitive enough for young kids to operate.”
Even more evidence that the “Obama Is Gay” theory is just plain stupid.

“”information becomes a distraction””
Yeah - I can see how us receiving information would be detrimental to his plans. Just treat us like a bunch of mushrooms and he’d be happier than a pig in slop!
