Ward worked for Democrats in Idaho and Virginia, says Submitted by Dan Popkey on Mon, 05/10/2010 - 9:39am.

First Congressional District Republican candidate Vaughn Ward worked for Democrats in Idaho and Virginia, reported Sunday.

But Ward's campaign manager, Ryan O'Barto, said Ward did not support Democratic state Rep. Jim Hansen of Boise when he interned for him for college credit in 1989 or 1990 at the Legislature. O'Barto also told that the records of the Virginia Democratic Party that show Ward as a volunteer for Gov. Tim Kaine in 2005 must be a mistake and that Ward never supported Kaine.

Hansen is now executive director of the Idaho Democratic Party. Kaine chairs the Democratic National Committee.

BS. Ward was born and raised in ID and went to school here.

Kinda touchy, aren't you Dr T? Nowhere did I say he wasn't born and schooled in Idaho.

He hasn't been around the state that much since he had a few jobs that took him on the road such as acting as an aide to Dirk Kempthorne in the Senate, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and the CIA who sent him to Iraq and Afghanistan respectively. I suppose those credits on his resume aren't good enough for a real Idahoan like you. He should have stayed home and served Idaho alone and not his country.

"Those credits" mean a lot to "a real Idahoan like [me]." US Army, July 1966 through July 1969. Enlisted, not drafted. You, Dr T, do not help your argument when you snipe at me instead of sticking to the issue. Ward has lived outside Idaho for many years. Does he know the issues that animate us as well as a man who has lived and worked here? Look up his contributions. That information is readily available. I've seen it. Lotsa money from the eastern establishment Republicans who, dare I say it, helped get America into the trouble we are in.

I also met and talked with Ward. He addressed a small group of GOPers in Post Falls for 2 hours, answering our questions and speaking to us all personally. I got a real good feeling from him and support him 100%.

I'm glad that worked out for you. It didn't for me.

Minnick is far more worried about Ward than he is about Labrador. That's why the Statesman is doing everything to sour people like you against him.

Take the Statesman's attitude up with them, not me. It was personal contact that told me to beware of Ward.

What a surprise that a "Labrador supporter" would come on FR and try to sink the GOP frontrunner in ID-1.

Ya caught me. I've been on FR since 2004 just waiting for the Great Ward/Labrador Controversy to boil over, and in one brilliant stroke, you Dr T, blew my carefully crafted cover. I stand in awe of your detective abilities, keen insight, and decisive rhetoric. Especially that part about the Statesman trying to "sour people like me."

Having had this exchange, I hope we can both get back to something constructive.

The fact that "it didn't work out for you" when you met Ward says it all. He is an impressive young man with stellar credentials who came across as sincere, but resolute regarding conservative principles.

Having met and conversed with him, that he didn't impress you tells me more about you than about him.

There are people who will complain at the Second Coming. They are never happy until they can nay-say someone or something. That's you.

Doesn't matter. Ward will win in a walk. In a year, when he has represented ID admirably, you'll still be complaining about him because he doesn't pass your laughable sniff test.
