Concealed Handgun Permit Holders Have Killed at Least 161 Since May 2007, Including 9 LE Officers
Violence Policy Center ^ | 28 April 2010 | N/A

Washington, DC--Concealed handgun permit holders have killed at least nine law enforcement officers in addition to 152 private citizens (including 15 shooters who killed themselves after an attack) since May 2007 according to the latest update of Concealed Carry Killers, a Violence Policy Center (VPC) on-line resource that tallies news reports of such killings. The web site, located at http://www.vpc.org/ccwkillers.htm, is updated monthly to include new fatal shootings since May 2007 by concealed handgun permit holders and any changes in the legal status of permit holders facing criminal charges. (Any concealed handgun permit holders who are eventually acquitted of their alleged crimes are not included in the tallies maintained on the site although the facts surrounding the shooting are detailed.)

The VPC web site categorizes the 95 incidents, which occurred in 25 states, and offers detailed descriptions of each incident (some incidents may fit into multiple categories). Of these incidents, 15 were murder-suicides involving firearms and 15 were mass shootings (three or more victims) that claimed as many as 11 lives at a time. Law enforcement officers were killed in Alabama, Florida (two incidents), Idaho, Ohio, and Pennsylvania (two incidents). All of the law enforcement killings were committed with guns.

I have always been repulsed by the term "Black on Black" crime. To me, it implies it would be better if it was "Black on White" or "Black on Asian" or "Black on Hispanic" crime.

We need to find out why there is a higher "Black" crime problem and try to resolve it while also trying to reduce crime from all others.

Where am I wrong?

Adjectives needed — were they BAD guys? Were they pursuing criminal actions? Were they in the midst of robberies? Kidnappings? Raping and pillaging? Then it is not nearly enough...

One of the dead LEOs was an FBI agent, who kicked in the door of a CC licensed woman with two small children, hoping to arrest her husband on a drug charge.

The woman, with only one minor marijuana offense years before, thought she was being home invaded by armed robbers, and was trying to protect her children when she shot the FBI agent once, at a downward angle from the top of her stairs.

Importantly, the FBI has seized all assets that could be used by her to defend herself, so her attorneys have been replaced by a public defender, and they have also arrested most of her other relatives on unrelated charges.

Her brother has now been arrested for possession of firearms by a convicted felon.

Her father and sister have been arrested for having a novelty poker playing machine in their store. Her father has also been arrested for possession of a blow gun and hunting knives, because they create a situation of "child endangerment."

We had a “Justified” Party for the very first episode....and have done it every week since!

yup— every Tuesday about 7-10 folks gather here at the house. Everytime they show Wynona, we all sing out together, “Well, Hiiiii Wynona!”

It’s a riot! We have a great time— good food- great show— and Timothy Olyphant is dang nice eye candy to boot!

Concealed Carry Permits Are Life Savers

But since adopting a concealed carry law Florida’s total violent crime rate has dropped 32% and its homicide rate has dropped 58%. Floridians, except for criminals, are safer due to this law. And Florida is not alone. Texas’ violent crime rate has dropped 20% and homicide rate has dropped 31%, since enactment of its 1996 carry law.

Another study makes the moral case for expanding and enhancing right-to-carry laws. A report by John Lott, Jr. and David Mustard of the University of Chicago released in 1996 found "that allowing citizens to carry concealed weapons deters violent crimes and it appears to produce no increase in accidental deaths." Further, the Lott-Mustard study noted, "If those states which did not have right-to-carry concealed gun provisions had adopted them in 1992, approximately 1,570 murders; 4,177 rapes; and over 60,000 aggravate assaults would have been avoided yearly."

Think about it. Nearly 8,000 of our fellow citizens have died between 1992 and 1996 because of the irrational fear that law-abiding Americans would abuse their right to self defense. In fact concealed carry permit holders are more law-abiding than the rest of the public. For example, Florida, which has issued more carry permits than any state has issued 1.36 million permits, but revoked only 165 (0.01%) due to gun crimes by permit-holders.

There are some bad apples in any group, including concealed carry holders. Some people that shouldn't have firearms due to mental illness or whatever have you (http://www.vpc.org/fact_sht/ccwprivatecitizens.pdf pages 23, 59, 72, and 88). So when this braindead organization lists a tale of 161 individuals, with many of those being disputed (see my posts above), it pales in comparison to the lives saved.

This doesn’t make sense - about 50 LE are murdered a year, it doesn’t make sense that about 3 of the murderers had CCWs.

This is a statistic deliberately aimed at LEs to get them to dislike CCWs. I’d look into it pretty closely before it goes into the echo chamber.

Why not do that? ... Because the federal oligarchy needs the criminals entering the US since they will be useful inhastening the ‘need for federal armed forces to protect citizens’. What the bastards in both parties do not allow exposed is, THEY are the criminals, they are the usurpers of We The People, they are the enemy within who will end the Republic, sooner rather than later.

Unfortunately, that wanna be storm trooper kicked in the wrong door.

Hopefully, a good lawyer will recognize the FBI’s obvious and egregious acts and help both the woman and himself to a generous dip into hte funds of the FBI.

‘Tis a pity she can’t take the deceased agent’s assets first. Were that possible, such Jack Bootery would be very rare, indeed.

Yep. More lefty propaganda, out of context, out of touch with reality and no proof as to what happened in each of these ‘killings’.

My math isn’t this newfangled Obamath where 440,000 lost jobs is positive, but it seems to me that if there are 17,000 annual homicides with guns, then 2007, 2008, 2009 had ~51,000 homicides. And these 161 by CCW carriers would be about 0.3% - 3 out of 1,000.

Yep, run for the hills from your local CCW carrier! Death on two feet!
