North Texas groups call for Austin boycott
statesman.com ^ | Wednesday, May 19, 2010 | COMPILED FROM STAFF REPORTS

Groups target Austin after Arizona boycott:

Two North Texas groups want to give Austin a taste of its own medicine.

The Hood County Republican Party and Burleson Tea Party — both upset that the City of Austin has cut ties with Arizona following that state's new illegal immigration law — have called for their members to boycott Austin.

The chairman of the Hood County Republican Party issued this statement Monday:

"If you conduct any business with the City of Austin, I would ask you to seek business elsewhere."

The Austin City Council voted last week to end travel and business ties with Arizona to protest its new law allowing law enforcement officers to detain people they suspect are in the country illegally.

Over the past year, 48 city employees took trips to Arizona at a cost of $47,908.

It's unclear how many Hood County Republicans or Burleson Tea Party members visited Austin last year, or how the loss of their business will affect Austin's economy.

Why is Austin feeling the need to have sent so many of its employees to Arizona anyway? Don't they have local jobs that need to be done?

I support boycotting places that support illegals, but it sounds like Austin likes to waste its money on things that are not important.

Both are such tiny entities that Austin won’t feel much from these two. Burleson has like 9,000 households and all of Hood County a tiny bit more. Interesting time we live in when fleas roar.

Look at the DIVISION this is causing all across the country. This causes me to have nothing more than a pure unadulterated disdain for Barack Hussein Obama.

One flea won’t cause much trouble. Several thousand will create a lot of misery. :0)

Well, I will tell you this...this “flea” lives in Bryan, very close to Austin, and I will not be doing business with any of them until this mess is over.

Those fleas have friends and relatives. Lots of 'em, all over the state.

I am moving my company and will soon move offices to Cedar Park or Round Rock. The Austin address is tainted.

The Travis County Tax authorities are corrupt, and Austin Chamber of Commerce caters ONLY to large commercial developers at the expense of home owners and small business.

Did anyone on the Austin CC bother to read the AZ law that is identical to the federal law???

All this posturing while the border burns. Politicians are worthless. Thank God for groups like freerepublic (the grand-daddy of the teaparties) that call these louts to task and force them to do they job.

Robinson is absolutely one of the frontiersman of the current movement we are witnessing..along with his contemporary, Matt Drudge..

How about we call him a founding father of the modern day cyber political revolution.
