GOP Asks FBI to Investigate ‘Collusion,’ Obstruction of Justice in Sestak Case
The Washington Examiner ^ | Friday, May 28, 2010 | Byron York

Posted on 05/28/2010 1:44:11 PM PDT by kristinn

All the Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee have joined Rep. Darrell Issa, ranking GOP member of the House Committee on Government Oversight and Reform, in writing a letter to FBI Director Robert Mueller over the Joe Sestak affair. The lawmakers urge Mueller to investigate “collusion” and possible obstruction of justice involving the White House, former President Bill Clinton, and Sestak’s brother, who was consulted during the drafting of the new White House report.

“Not surprisingly, the White House’s own report clears White House officials and former President Bill Clinton of wrongdoing,” the lawmakers write. “But assurances by the Obama White House that no laws were broken are like the Nixon White House promising it did nothing illegal in Watergate. Clearly an independent investigation is necessary to determine once and for all what really happened.”

The lawmakers say that the original acts, in which Sestak was offered a position in return for his leaving the Pennsylvania Democratic Senate primary race, could violate several federal laws. But they are also worried by the circumstances surrounding the White House’s self-exonerating report. ”We are equally concerned about steps taken by the White House leading up to the issuance of today’s report,” they write, “including a meeting between former President Clinton and President Obama and reports that Rep. Sestak’s brother and campaign manager was consulted on the drafting of the White House report. The apparent collusion between the parties involved may constitute obstruction of justice. We urge the FBI to investigate.”

The Republicans note that Attorney General Eric Holder has already turned down a request from Issa to investigate the matter.

I'm wondering if it's just better to let this lie and let folks wonder...

No way. Asking a candidate to stop campaigning for no value is as stupid as it sounds. The Obama WH committed an egregious act of Chicago politics and Sestak sang. This is a felony for obvious reasons. The law specifically addresses primaries.

When we take the house, I hope the republicans hold hundreds of congressional hearings. We need to demand it.

I’ve seen it posted before around here, but naturally can’t find it now ... can anyone source me to the USC section that details the violation(s) of law here?

Thanks. Sorry to be so dense.

I don’t know, the tone has dramatically changed. If they do nothing from 2010 to 2012, they’ll be kicked out. The tea party isn’t going away.

You’ve been here about as long as me. We’ve been shouting this for 10 years. Remember the March for Justice? No one listened. Now, the common guy is. It’s different this election, and I believe going forward. It’s our freedom, liberty, and America that’s at stake. It’s not just a bill anymore.

Your fingers to God’s eyes. I pray you are right, that the righteous outrage at this commie scum will not subside by November, but to expect Republicans to actually prosecute the criminality is dreaming ... sinkEmperor and his scum crowd are back in power through the affirmative action slug, and Republicans had power right after sinkEmperor slithered out of the White House yet his selling our secrets to the Chicoms went ignored ... as but one example of many criminal treason charges which should have been prosecuted.

I am shocked and amazed that it is illegal to do this kind of thing. I bet most American, like me, think this is S.O.P. for politicians.

It is NOT sop for a sitting President to offer a position to someone in a political race as long as they drop out. That is a clear violation. That SOB is guilty as hell.

Don’t you think it’s different? The tone, the feel, the knowledge our country is slipping away. We don’t want that. And if the libs fulfill their mission, my tag is more relevant. We’re prepping, we’re preparing, we WON’T be ruled. There are too many of us. Americans are standing up. As an example, can you imagine the bikers from Sturgis will put up with this crap?

Thats the new angle. Clinton is clear of the law eh? The Lord works in mysterious ways. Spector will prove to be the biggest mistake Obuma ever made.
