The last I read, there was a question as to whether the Bakken and the Sanish-Three Forks were interconnected.
Some folks were guessing the Sanish - Three Forks was as big, maybe bigger than the Bakken.

It is almost a sacrilege to say it, but what a Hell of a producer that well and that field would have been. I suppose the field is still viable but that would have been a super well.

Now, wouldn't THAT be interesting??

True.
During a routine maintenance check, power went out, causing a valve to open and channel oil into a storage tank, which overflowed. Oil streamed into a bermed secondary containment area.
Any idea why an actuated valve going to a tank would fail open? My only guess is a divert valve and the inlet shut.

Oil streamed into a bermed secondary containment area. That containment area is lined with an impermeable liner and state and company officials say no oil escaped from the area.

Did I read somewhere that the Sanish/Three Forks is UNDER the Bakken shale? The Sanish/Three Forks zone is an Oil area below the upper part of the Bakken Oil Shale formation. Experts and drillers are trying to figure out if the Three Forks is a separate oil reservoir or actually part of the Bakken Shale oil field. Many companies have been drilling wells in Montrail County, North Dakota - McKenzie County, North Dakota - and Dunn County, North Dakota. These companies have been striking positive Three Forks/Sanish results.
