Ariz. immigrant law protesters arrested in Calif.
Arizona Daily Star ^

Eight people in California who chained themselves together to protest Arizona's immigration law have been arrested outside Santa Ana's federal building.

Police took them into custody Thursday after they tied up traffic and refused to leave the street.

About 60 activists called on Santa Ana to declare itself a sanctuary city for immigrants and criticized the new Arizona immigration law.

It requires police to ask people about their immigration status if there is "reasonable suspicion" that they're in the country illegally.

A police spokesman says the eight protesters will be cited and released if they cooperate with officers at the jail. The spokesman said the group did not advise officials about the protest so they couldn't prepare for it.

But only after they've been stopped for another offense AND do not produce any form of identification.

I believe they mean illegal immigrants. And they all live in a sanctuary state, so they shouldn't be complaining.

AND do not produce any form of identification.

Do not produce any ACCEPTABLE form of identification. The law spells out which forms are acceptable including the fact that a drivers license must be from a state that requires a birth certificate or other positive identification. In other words, licenses from a state that hands them out like candy is not acceptable. Still, they will allow you to produce other forms of ID. Note that the matricular card is not one of them.

I remember that billboard. It caused quite a firestorm of protest when it went up in L.A.

Part of the handwriting on the wall...

Sweet! Since they're all chained together, lets throw them over a power line....Kinda like tying 2 cats' tails together and throwing them over a clothes line! lol.

(my apologies to all the Viking kitties here)
